How many more wins will the Bears have because of Peppers? Big time free agent signings don't usually improve a team that much. The Bears still need 2 OL, 1 WR, 1 S, & maybe 1 DB or CB.

The only player on an NFL team that can account for 2-3 additional wins is the QB. Peppers had just 4 more sacks than Ogunleye last year. That's 1 more sack every 4 games. No way those 4 sacks = 2 or 3 more wins.

It would be frustrating as hell to follow the NFL as simple-mindedly as you do. My condolences.

I agree. The Panthers finished 8-8 with the great Julius last year.

I merely stated a fact. Peppers had 4 more sacks than Ogunleye...1 more sack every 4 games.
If the Bears dont improve the OL, WR, S & CB positions, Peppers will be a huge waste of money.
Agreed?

I see your point Scorehead, but Peppers gets pressure where Wale (and all the others) rarely did. I am not sure if I believe the Peppers will make the whole D line better, but last year opposing QBs had forever to pick apart the secondary. IF there is pressure and less time, that automatically makes the CB and S position less of a weakness.
As to the O Line, don't underestimate what a good blocking TE can do to slow down a pass rush. They can hopefully upgrade from terrible to almost mediocre with one or two minor upgrades.

Peppers didn't play every down last year for the Panthers. They would pull him out of the game on running downs because his run Defense is horrible.

The lachrymose Jake Delhomme may have had a hand in that. A hand attached to a shaky arm.

Not really. It'd be a waste of his talent if they left those holes open, but not a waste of money. If he performs at a high level like he has the past two seasons, he's worth it.

i knew that peppers would be a great bears player. williams will also be great for the bears and the same goes for Dane Sanzenbacher, who will do good things for the bears. too many people here are negative and pessimistic about the bears. as a fan you should embrace everything they do and support them and know that they know what they are doing when it comes to finding talent. trust lovie to do the right thing. you cant argue with the success that he has had with the bears.

You can laugh all you want, but that's exactly what the Panthers did.

How many Carolina games did you watch that year? The only one that springs to my memory is the Vikings game. Peppers didn't come out on run plays. In fact, he thoroughly dominated so much Childress was literally scared for Favre's health.
