While the White Sox continue their series with the Yankees at U.S. Cellular Field tonight and tomorrow night, the Bronx Bombers continue to do so minus Alex Rodriguez, currently on the DL trying to recover from a torn meniscus. However, USA Today reports that the Yankee third baseman could be in hot water for something off the field that surely won't sit well with "Commissioner" Allan H. Selig.

The newspaper reports that Major League Baseball is investigating Rodriguez for allegedly taking part in illegal, underground poker games. The story first surface in Star magazine of all places. Star reported last month that the third baseman took part in high-stakes poker games with the likes of Ben Affleck, Leonardo DiCaprio & Matt Damon. Additional details surfaced at RadarOnline.com earlier today.

While Rodriguez and his spokesman Richard Rubenstein declined comment last month when this story first surfaced, the whole story can be found here:

Don't see the big deal in this really. Stuff like this goes down at Chris's wife's house all the time.

Weren't you there the night Don Cheadle stopped by?

Major League Baseball gets awfully uncomfortable when a subject like gambling involves players and/or managers. We all remember what happened over 20 years ago with Pete Rose betting on baseball as manager of the Cincinnati Reds and is now BANNED FOR LIFE. If I were you, I'd keep an eye on this story.

That's a pretty big stretch there. Huge difference between a player joining a high stakes poker game and a manager betting on the game itself.

Gambling is gambling, NSJ. Then again, here's something I don't get. Why does MLB frown on its players taking part in card games and managers betting, but I hear on the "Lowe's Pregame" on the TOYOTA White Sox Radio Network a "Who's On A Roll?" spotlight on a White Sox ballplayer sponsored by a casino? I don't get that...

i do not see the big deal about playing poker ... i could see cracking down on gambling many years ago when the players made nothing and worked real jobs in the off season..todays game is so much different it is hardly comparable.
