Not really. Cubs havent traded away most of their farm system.

Bryan, just take a look at how both teams here are operated.
Madcap Kenny Williams signed THE OAF before he signed Konerko.
This could have been a bigger disaster.
Neither team here has a farm system worth a damn.
Kenny Williams throws shit against the wall every Winter and hopes it sticks in a WIN NOW scheme.
It worked in 2005.
The Cubs emulated the scheme when Zell had the team on the market and McDonough let Hendry go for it.
The Sox lucked into a World Series and the Cubs made the Playoffs two straight years.
Both clubs became saddled with huge contracts for STIFFS they can't move.
For entertainment purposes, look up the baseball drafts.....The year the Sox took the Stanford QB, Joe Borchard, "The Next Mickey Mantle", the Phillies took Chase Utley a few picks later.
Both clubs can give a group of posters on the board a kegger and let us do the drafting.
One last point on this rant.....Both SCOREHEAD and BIGFAN were right about Ricketts from jumpstreet when I somehow thought the guy would actually have a plan when he bought the Cubs.
Rosenbloom has now christened Tom Rickets "The Fanboy Owner"!!!!!
