You think the Score would be willing to do this if it wasn't right? I mean they are willing to buy him out. If he was a sucsess they wouldn't do this. He's a horrible failure. Or else business wise they wouldn't consider this.

This is stupid. As usual the Score doesn't have a plan. Who are they going to replace him with. There isn't anyone at the station that will have a better show than his unless you move B&B to the mornings. All of you guys that are celebrating will be wishing he were still there when he is gone.

You may be right Nas, but it sounds like you are making an assumption to me. How do you know they don't have a plan? When a business is working on replacing someone, they don't sign the replacement in ink or make any kind of announcement until the dead body is buried. The replacement may be good or it may be bad...but I would believe they do have some kind of plan that will reveal itself in due time.

He bitches about managment. Yet he's paid greatly and doesn't produce. It's everybody's fault but his in his mind. Nobody should shed a tear for this no talent failure. He might get paid 500k to sit at home. Please. Even though he's lossed he has won big time. He should have enough in his bank to last him.

I know they make right decisions when it comes to money. Nobody just likes to pay a guy off for not working. Now maybe when it comes to talent evaluation they lack. But not for just paying some one off. They don't do that without correct reasons.

All I know is I don't listen to Mike North and I actually moved on to national shows(not Mike and Mike) in the morning on XM. I don't mind that as a little outside perspective is nice but it sucks when there is a big Chicago sports story and I still can't listen because they are talking politics or some other stuff that I don't want to hear. In my opinion, any show that sticks to sports 90% of the time is an upgrade.

Right Nas. That's why I'm saying if this is gonna happen it shows that the Score realizes what a failure Pappy is. If they are willing to eat money.

It's about time. Mike gets all his talent from his black half. "But, he isn't black." :? Exactly!

I'm sure they have a plan. If one thing the Score management has proven throughout the last few years is they will make bad decisions. I just don't see anyone out there that will be better than North. Maybe I will be wrong. Maybe they will hire Rick Telander.

I agree Nas, I have worked for a few radio stations and never have I worked for such goofs as Score Managment. Goose Gleason, SpaceBall, Rosen and Agase. These guys are so pathetic its beyond words. Thats why North has had free reigns and just not North, Boers has the same perks, the inmates are truly running the asylum.

One word about Rick, he was put in a no win situation, they teamed him with one guy who hated him for no reason and Doug is just not a guy who can talk all three Major sports, plus North and others wanted him to fail, so he did. Rick walked because he didnt need to deal with the children, its that simple and I dont blame him.

Ask yourself this, when it was obvious that the MNMS was a complete failure and Mike would never see another paycheck again like the one he is getting now, was there really any doubt that it would be breaking down the way it is now, I can tell you there was no doubt in the minds of the people who work at 455 N Cityfront Plaza Dr, none at all.

Telander sucked because he was boring. I don't care who you put him with - I don't care about cycling, or whatever other garbage he wanted to talk about.

I honestly have not listened to North in 2 weeks. It just got to be a bunch of nothing. Occasionally a good person to interview and despite the self promo, I dont think Mike is a good interviewer just because he tries to think of the one tough question that nobody else asked because they deal in being polite.

Overall the morning show has lacked total creativity from day 1 and this is nobody elses fault besides Mike North.

Please feel free to email the day Annie adds something that is clsoe to funny, witty or entertaining.

North, Boers, Bernstein and Hood didnt didnt want him hired, they did everything within their power to screw him over. Yes, rick was not good, but new to doing a radio show and it would have been nice to get the help from others like those guys did when they started up the station. I think you need to look at it that way, I really do.

If they replace North I can only see them replacing him from within which (aside from Larry) only can mean an upgrade from the current show. I can't listen to it for more than a few minutes right now so anything else will be an improvement in my book. I know they would never do it but breaking up B&B and getting more from both guys would be a great move.

I could. What happened the last time the Score decided to break up successful shows? Besides Terry would go crazy if he had to work everyday

True, but I can only hope that Terry could continue the good shows he does every time Dan is gone. Who's to say that he wouldn't? The only time he is crabby and negative is when he's with Bernstein. He just becomes all nice and friendly with callers and hosts when paired with anybody else. Then you get two good shows instead of one. Plus even if Terry doesn't do that well, do you think Bernstein's show will be ANY different with another host? It will be the same show and some other guy will turn into an agreeable lackey as Terry has done. Put Drinky with Dan and it's the same exact show. I don't see the risk here.

Ooops, I read that first post wrong at first, seeing 'mid day'.

Now we don't know they don't have a plan. It's probably guaranteed though that a lot of guys there have been waiting for this for a while. Plus, he's got all his billboards and ads and he can't touch the national sports morning show. He knows what fans want, acknowledged it, and refused to do it (the whole Annie thing). I doubt people will miss it that much, from what I read here, many have found alternatives a long time ago.

Although when Mike went on his little rant in the morning he said his value came in advertising and bringing in money. (and the rest of his argument was that the company was paying for everyone else to lose to competition anyways, comparing himself to Imus, Couric, and I think Letterman)

I don't know anything but I will go out on a limb and say Mancow

I think if you've attempted to read any of his boring ass columns over the years, you'd see why you wouldn't be too happy having this guy on 2-6 every day. Put him on at nighttime, and he can help me go to sleep.

Oh for the love of God we don't need Rick Telander back on the air. I remember how he'd get Doug to the point Dougie would want to clobber him. Let alone J. Hood's frustration with the man.

That was horrid radio, and I never..........EVER want to hear the like again.

This simply isn't true. He worked in radio and television for years.

His failure had nothing to do with his lack of familiarity with the medium of radio and everything to do with the fact that he's woefully out of touch with Chicago's sports zeitgeist.

Most of his topics--like, for instance, "kids killing each other for gym shoes" would've been cutting edge--in 1988.

Has this story been picked up in any of the papers? Usually you see rumblings of this sort in the Times and the Trib, unless it completely comes out of left field.

Kinda feel bad, but if a show sucks, it sucks. And while I liked North when he was with Buffone, the AM show sucks for many reasons

Sadly, I kind of believed him. I was actually getting really excited with all that "inside information." He must get his from the same source North gets all his ideas for show bits from!

With Dan Mason back as head of CBS Radio, you can kiss all the rumors about a buyout out the window. North is probably laughing his ass off right about now...

North has referenced this board in the past. If he mentions the buyout, it is not happening. If he ignores the buyout, it is happening. Now, can someone please listen to this train wreck for me and let me know if it is brought up. Sorry Rock, you seem like a good guy, but I hope you can get an exec producer job for someone who hasn't lost his way.

Also, I once drank with the brother of a guy, who once worked for a guy, whose sister sold a camera to Bebe's third cousin and they told me Mike North may accept a contract buyout. However, I talked to the gardener of Jay Hood's ninth cousin, and they weren't so sure. Stay tuned.
