Has anyone actually paid for his podcasts? I was as big of a Dahl fan as there was growing up. I used to listen to his tapes with a few friends in my room while I was away in Rome. The quality of his show was going downhill when it got pulled. I might have listened to a couple of the free podcasts. I cannot imagine there is someone who is actually paying for it...and it's overpriced at that.

This sounds like a bad career move for an older guy. Being off the air for 2+ years I would have thought he would at least sign a short term deal with a radio station to rebuild the listnership then try this move.

Nope..ain't gonna happen for me. I too enjoyed him growing up, but his ship has sailed in my book.

If he were back on free/terrestrial radio, then yeah. Otherwise..meh.

I'm a huge Dahl fan from way back, but nope, I'm not paying for his podcast. I listened to them when they were free. Some were pretty good, some meh. YouTube has some good Dahl/Meier clips.

Wouldve been nice when Dahl / Meier were at their peak popularity if there were satellite radio around. Wonder what they wouldve sounded like with no shackles. That being said for maybe a 7 yr period or so there in the late 80's early 90's, they produced the funniest radio Ive ever heard to this day.

So let me get this straight, I get Marc Maron two days a week and Adam Carolla five days a week...for free and you want me to pay for the privilege of listening to you bitch and moan about how Howard Stern ripped you off and that the white sox/bears/hawks have raised your season ticket prices? I'll pass.

Plus its ironic when Steve Dahl was on WCKG in 2006 after Howard left...he would rant about how Howard was making his fans pay to listen to him.

Yeah, gotta say you are a loser of massive proportions if you pay for Podcasts.

I would not pay for anyones thoughts 1, 2 or 15 hours later on tape. Unless it is great stock or NFL picks

or how lame was that when MANCOW made you pay like $50 a year to get the podcast when he was on Q101

or even worse, to hear him talk about his golf game. That guy used to rip anyone who played golf and now he is a country clubber.

getting back to your post, if you listen to stern it is pretty obvious that he stole entire bits from dahl without a single change to them: the ghetto traffic reporter in the helicopter, the homo club, the bijou theater, the anthony voice, etc. The last two are pretty particular to Chicago and Stern didn't even bother to retrofit them before throwing them on the air.

Dahl should have just gone to WGN to complete the circle of life. I don't often listen to WGN, not because of any "I'm too cool" reason, it's just that it's about 5th or 6th on the radio priority/other station in commercial list and I rarely have to go 6-deep on my radio presets.

But, I did catch some of it last week and to hear Meier having discussions with Tom Skilling is weird.

I would never pay for a podcast and I also was a huge S&G fan. Hell, I even went to that crappy 20th anniversary show at The Vic.

The best podcast I ever heard was Ricky Gervais' about 6 years ago and then he started charging and I was out.

C'mon, I know you'd pay for Doug and OB if they weren't on terrestrial radio during the football season.....I would if I had the dough.

Someday Dahl will be on WGN AM720.

I was channel surfing late Friday night when the ageless Robin Robinson anchored a postgame edition of FOX32 News after the Buccaneers/Chiefs' NFL Preseason game that FOX Sports aired. Steve was doing something called "The News Remixed"(?), and was rambling about Jay Cutler & Kristin Cavallari recently ending their engagement. While I didn't quite understand what Steve was talking about, it looked to me as if Steve had lost some weight.

The guy is the mirror image of North, a general topics guy who often tries to focus on sports unsuccessfully.

Do you get a Slingbox with that? Or at the very least, a courtesy phone call from the SupeSklar Brothers?
