Is Brent Morel much better, RP? I say no...Besides, might Morel end up at second base just like Beckham with Gordon being dealt in the offseason? Stay tuned...

Morel has played solid defense just as Beckham has, and has a better average to boot, SHARK.

Frank, Brent Morel is no immediate threat to Evan Longoria, Alex Rodriguez and OTHER POWER hitting third basemen. I'm definitely aware that Morel's got a higher BA than Beckham, but 2 homers and 5 walks aren't good enough either.

Its not, SHARK. But Morel was penciled in to be the 9th place hitter for a reason. Nobody expected him to do anything more than what he has done so far. I never mentioned Longoria or the lot. Fact is that Beckham's struggles at the plate have been a much bigger issue with this team than Morel's lack of production. Why you can't admit that, I really don't know.

i never bought into the gordon beckham being great bullshit, thought he was an 8 or 9 hitter who could be decent with the glove...i also do not think san diego was ever interested in trading adrian gonzalez for beckham...morel is going to be the next joe crede and hit 249 ish and above average at 3rd..but morel has got to get more walks, tyler flowers has been up all of 2 weeks and has more walks than morel already.

If Beckham didn't get those 2 hits on Sunday afternoon in the 10-0 White Sox winner over the Rangers, I'd be all for Gordon sitting at least 1 of these 2 games in Anaheim. I doubt seriously that will be the case, especially given who these Sox will be facing. I think he was very lucky that the Rangers started 2 lefties over the weekend in Matt Harrison and Derek Holland. I'm as disappointed as anyone than Beckham has struggled this badly at the plate, but now's not the time to give up completely. He's got a lot of work ahead of him, and I heard CSN's Bill Melton on with Mac & Spiegs today suggest a slightly lower stance for Gordon come Spring Training. The high pitches and non-strikes are absolutely killing this kid!

As for Brent Morel, he has also looked lost at the plate at times. The Sox were hoping to hide Morel at the bottom of Ozzie's lineup at the start of the season, but with Beckham, Alex Rios & Adam Dunn scuffling so badly at the plate and this team hard-pressed to score runs, I don't think you can hide Morel's own issues either. I'm starting to think that we expected too much from these two.

 I just get tired of the 312 player, scorehead school of posters that just bitch about everything and wait for something to go wrong and then when it does they are like see I told you all that Carlos Zambrano was crazy and couldn't be counted on like they are Moses bringing down the tablet's from the mountaintop. Yeah your powers of observation are astonishing. I honestly think most of these guys actually root for the teams they follow to be shitty so they can hop on here and gloat about it. It's weird.

not true...i think castro is going to be great and sale and santos and that is just local young talent.but i said many times beckham will be the worst 2 hitter in baseball and he needs to hit 8th or 9th in april

YOU expected too much out of Morel. Beckham has been really good with the glove, really bad at the plate. I thought he would be a lot better than he has been as well.

But Morel? There is a big list of issues with this team, Morel is way way down on the list. His job was to play solid defense, hit .240, 5-10 Hrs, and drive in 35-50 runs. Thats it. His power numbers aren't good, but you are making way too much of an issue over Brent freakin' Morel, SHARK.
High batting stance, lower stance, whatever the case may be, he shouldn't be swinging at the high pitches anyway!

Beckham will fall below Rios in suckitude by the end of the year. He looks just as bad as Dunn right now

Ramirez is not having a very good year.

I've got to think that even though he's 8-for-24 lifetime vs. tonight's starter, the Twins' Carl Pavano, Gordon Beckham might be on the bench in the finale of this 4 game series at Target Field.

Truth be told, Beckham has been scuffling at the plate as of late. His batting average is currently at .228 and had it not been for a certain strikeout king by the name of Adam Dunn, Beckham would be this team's leader in K's this season. While Dunn has a mind-boggling 158 K's this season and is close to Dave Nicholson's franchise record in 1963 with 175 K's, Beckham now has 98 K's this season following 2 K's in last night's 3-0 White Sox shutout.

For his part, Beckham is already looking ahead to an even more productive 2012. He feels a lot of his woes at the plate are mental. This is what he told the Trib's Mark Gonzales prior to one of the games in Minnesota:

SHARK, he has not simply been scuffling "as of late." With an average under .230, he has been sucking all year. Its after Labor Day and he's hitting .228 (TWO TWENTY EIGHT!) Why can't you just admit that he sucks?

Frank, Beckham does suck...at hitting. With the glove, he's pretty good.

It's probably better than gambling one's credibility on Rios, Dunn, and Peavy. Maybe SHARK should be the new GM.

Beckham's not earning nearly as much money as Rios, Dunn & Peavy, guys. Despite his offensive woes, Beckham could be packaged as part of a potential offseason trade that could also involve the likes of Mark Buehrle, John Danks, Gavin Floyd and Carlos Quentin. There are plenty of moving parts and some tough decisions the White Sox will have to deal with in the offseason.

You'll be happy to know that Gordon Beckham starts the night on Ozzie's bench. The lineup can be found here:

With Lillibridge being hurt, you will get a steady diet of Beckham the rest of the year I'd assume.
