Even his photos look smug.

In a few years you will have 8 year olds playing this game who think Madden is just the name of the company.

And they will likely be correct by then.

Those TurDuckens are gonna catch up with him.

You dont need mind blowing advancements. Sports games include advancements in the actual games (2 Rb systems, new rosters, wildcat etc). They are not bound to their own universe like Zelda or Modern Warfare or whatever you nerds are playing these days. After Zelda 1, you better have some enhancements or its the exact same game.

And its 60$ a year, and most people that play madden are big football fans. I mean relative to other things you spend your money on, 60$ for a product you will use for a ridiculous amount of hours is not bad.

I was talking more along the lines of controls, animations, the graphics engine, collision detection and all the other stuff that can't ever get truly upgraded and improved when a dev. has to use the same base game engine for a decade because they have a yearly release schedule. You don't need a new $60 game to implement a 2RB system or the wildcat, new rosters or new jesery's or whatever the fuck.

Pay $60 for the in 2012 and then have DLC upgrades for the next two years so the developers can really fix the game.

That and EA shouldn't have a monopoly on the NFL license, those 2k games were da' bomb diggity.

The ESPN game was garbage but youre right. The monopoly hurts. As much as I like the Show. EA MVP was good.

I hear ya SomeGuy. You're a guy who should buy it every couple years then. For me I dont mind shelling out the 60 if only because the hours to dollars spent ratio is too good not to.

I thought the ESPN one was good. For $15, it was just as good as Madden. Then they tried doing that stupid helmet view thing, which was terrible, but overall the game was solid.

Too easy. Even on the hardest level you could dominate and any QB that could run a little was unstoppable.

True, but you could bling out your crib. That was the best part.

Question for sake of continuity:

You said you get the game for free. When was the last time you payed for the game? Last year? Four years ago?

I think Terry Bradshaw was on the cover the last time I bought it.

But MLB the Show and before that EA MVP are the same deal and I pay for those. And I would definitely pay for Madden if I didnt have the connection.

So then would you still be as willing to shell out $60 each year if you actually did have to? For the same game from one year to the next?

Yes, thats what I meant by saying Id still buy it even without a connection.

But im a unique case. I play two (2) games a year. Madden for six months and The Show for 6 months.

So 120$ for a years worth of games is not bad.

I dunno. I guess I just see that as being easy for you to say since you actually don't buy the game.

I haven't bought a Madden game in awhile (as I mentioned), so maybe I would actually enjoy this year's release seeing as though I have nothing recent to base it on. Then again, I am also in the minority of Madden players who only buy the game once every 3-4 years.

With the Monopoly Madden has, there's no need for them to ever improve the game. It's still one of the top selling games year after year, so why should they change it? The sheep will keep buying it. Maybe if people stopped shelling out $60/year, they might do something about it.

The thing is I think they have made it worse. They were trying to do some stuff with the cut scenes and a few are OK and others crashed and burned bad. When you go to kick a field goal they pull the camera away to the point you can't really see anything. I played 4 season games between Tuesday and Wednesday and heard the exact same comments to start the game for each game. Annoying to say the least. I get they are trying but this year it just seemed like they did too much to the point it takes away from the game.

I get what you're saying, but I just don't understand the bitching year after year if you are still buying the game. Why not stop buying it if you have a problem with the lack of advancements? I did.

Me too. I gave up on Madden a few years ago. The game engine sucks, the AI is attrocious. Those two factors outweigh any other problems with the game. Any time you can beat a game on its highest difficulty 48-0 the game is poorly made.

Got this on Wii.

Okay, now that you've stopped laughing, it isn't that bad of a game. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but unlike the past Madden games on the system, I can use the classic controller, so it seems like a real madden game.

I did this last year.

I'm not sure which one I disliked more.

At least SI gave me the Swimsuit issue.

So I guess the answer was, I disliked Madden more.

Several times a year SI goes on sale for $10, plus a free t-shirt.

I think it was being advertised for $50...that's what it was last year, anyway.

28 issues. $50

Madden and some sort of Madden DVD that will most likely remain in the package...

Worth it, imo...

It was more for the game. $1.79 an issue ain't bad, I guess. But I probably wouldn't even consider a subscription if the game weren't involved...
