I had read how Danks was so excited about the matchup with verlander and the Tigers and I looked at Danks' ERA since late June (just over 2 going into last nights game) and thought it should really be a good pitchers duel....not so much

Cannot remember the last time I saw a closer get drilled like that in basically an elimination game and not be scarred for life. If I were the manager I don't know if I would give him the ball tomorrow or give him the rest of the year off.

Yes, this was the last day of the year with the playoffs on the line. If you think they are still a factor, that is fine, but this was their last gasp as a contender. If he just considered this as another game and he just had a "bad day at the office," thence is not paying attention. Those meatballs are inexcusable.
