As I kind of expected Pena is not starting tonight. After the kind of game LaHair had last night one would only assume he would be playing again today.....Wrong. Jeff Baker is holding down 1st. LaHair needs some reps at 1b and he needs to show what he can do against a lefty. You do not need to platoon him when a lefty pitches. The only things that needs to be platooned are my right and left foot going up Quade's ass. Fine...put Baker in because he rakes off lefties...put him in left and get that sorry piece of shit out of there.

I think the Reds are going to hit the shit out of Rodrigo tonight.

Bombs away off Lopez and no surprise LaHair gets benched.

I thought Dontrelle was going to shove it up their ass tonight. It appears not.....and of course Soriano actually gets hits on yet another night that I call for his permanent benching.

Cassie!! 9 bombs and 61 driven in. Thats more than I expected from him this year.

Lopez is going to let them back in this though. Good news is that the awful Grabow pitched last night and should be down tonight.

Quade better not pinch hit LaHair and put his hitting streak in jeopardy. Once you hit 7 games you have to respect the streak.

Soriano's numbers look decent if he was a DH. Hopefully the new GM can peddle him to the AL without having to pay more than 15M of the 18M for each of the next 3 years.

The guy can still hit even though he is streaky as hell.

He'd be an above average DH IMO.

True, but look at the HR's and RBI's. He'll finish 25+ and 80+. Not bad in this No Roid Era.

He is shit against remotely decent pitching when it counts. I would try to trade him to Seattle for Figgins who could at least pinch run and spell some guys at various positions.

ehh 25 homers is not bad but he is not a good enough hitter to be a d.h. on any a.l. team imo...the pitching is better in the a.l. so his numbers will dip even more..the guy is below average

LaHair keeps the streak alive at 8 games!! Cubs had a nice rally going in the 6th until fucking Soriano grounded into a double play as per usual.

I would trade Soriano for Gaines Adams. I want him gone even if it means buying him out. I just think that figgins is one of the few deals they could financially pull off.

Sources: Japanese clubs like LaHair
September, 13, 2011
Sep 136:53PM CTEmailPrintCommentsBy Bruce LevineCINCINNATI – Will the next destination for Chicago Cubs’ late bloomer Bryan LaHair be Japan?

[+] Enlarge
Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images
Bryan LaHair has 10 hits in 20 at-bats with the Cubs. According to scouting sources, numerous Japanese teams have been scouting and are prepared to make offers to LaHair, if he becomes a free agent following the 2011 season.

LaHair said he has had conversations with some representatives of Japanese baseball. If the Cubs keep him on their 40-man roster, however, he will continue to be under the team’s control.

There is some precedent of the Cubs allowing an Asian club to pursue one of their players. Former Cubs’ first baseman Micah Hoffpauir was sold to the Nippon Ham Fighters in the Japanese Pacific League in the fall of 2010 for $200,000. Hoffpauir then signed a two-year contract. He’s making $700,000 in 2011.

Although LaHair is intrigued by the interest from Japan, his heart is set on being a major league player.

“Not coming from a lot of money, when you hear offers, you have to consider it,” LaHair said. “But the dream is to be in the major leagues. And this is where I want to be.”

Mike Quade has been impressed by the versatile LaHair.

“I’ve been impressed with his at-bats, but I’m not going to go nuts after watching a guy for just one week,” Quade said. “But I am looking at a guy against good competition for the first time, and he’s doing a lot of good stuff. He’s showing good plate discipline and he’s worked the pitch count extremely well. I’d like to see him keep it up over the next couple of weeks.”

Prior to getting called up this month, LaHair’s only other big league experience was with the Mariners in 2008. LaHair is has 10 hits in nine games with the Cubs.

Take the money and run. Before they find out you're Micah Hoffpauir.

Quade still thinks he can make friends by massaging the balls of his players......according to a piece in the trib...

Quade said he wanted to show Dempster "respect" by allowing him to hit with one out in the seventh inning, despite the fact the Cubs were losing by a run and Dempster's pitch count was high. Before the game, Quade said he would use next week's off day to get Dempster an extra start in an effort to let him try to reach the 200-inning mark.

Fucking christ Quade. Stop pushing this god damn veteran pile of shit out there every night. They are not your fucking friends. Colvin has his best game of the season and you proceed to bench him for the next 3 days in favor or fucking reed johnson and soriano. LaHair is hitting something like .450 in his 10 games with an 8 game hitting streak but its so god damn important that you play Soriano. 3 more weeks before your sorry ass goes away. Good fucking riddance.

Only 9 more hits before Castro gets 200. I want to say he would be the youngest player to do such.

Well, well, well douchebag Quade. Your need to put Reed Johnson in the lineup has resulted in a double play.

I don't dislike Reed, but he is what he is and he really doesn't need to be playing. He does not need to be evaluated while there are 2 guys that need to be.

The Reds tv announcers were just talking about and basically mocking the shit out of this story that the Cubs are trying to score Jocketty, Tony Drinky and Pujols   ......I'm laughing right along with them.

Hell ya....it's already 3-0. It appears Dusty's veteran who should not be playing either has Coleman's number and just dropped a 3 run bomb on him.

Is Dusty wearing Gold framed glasses?

Cueto is broken.

I have met Sam Lecure before and he is freaking me the hell out with that huge Cowboy stache.

I think that is absolutely a given. Might explain why he's sucking the veterans off.

I was figuring that they might catch on elsewhere... and lobby for the guy. He had guys lobbying for him between the last off season and his contract, perhaps that had an impact. I don't know. Maybe he's saying fuck you to management because he knows he's fired too. I mean they fired Hendry a month before they fired Hendry. Perhaps they fired Quade before they fire him.

I think he just wants some friends. He won't get another job above AA anywhere else and then he will have to climb the ladder again. Doesn't he live in the northwest burbs? He will be the next Northwestern Baseball Head Coach.
