If there's one thing Chicago teams tend to do whenever there's a managerial or coaching vacancy, it's this. What do Ozzie, Cubs' manager (for now) Mike Quade, Bears' head coach Lovie Smith and Bulls' head coach Tom Thibodeau have in common? With the exception of the Blackhawks' Joel Quenneville, all of those head coaches/managers are first-timers in their respective jobs. That being said, if Ozzie gets his walking papers along with Quade at Clark & Addison, I wouldn't be shocked if Jerry Reinsdorf with the White Sox and Tom Ricketts with the Cubs, hires someone who's never filled out a lineup card before.

I would not fire Ozzie. I'd either make him quit, sell him to Florida or let him coach on this contract. I am really hoping Florida has strong interest. Ozzie's not going to walk away. That blowhard proved how quickly he folds when his bluff was called last year.

If the Sox are 20-13 in May, they will see an increase in attendance because they are winning. People don't go to games to see a manager. Ozzie created a buzz, but they did not draw until they won games. If the brain trust thinks Ryno is going to win games, fine hire him. But to suggest to hire Ryno because he will help with attendance is not only stupid, it is simply not true. In fact,there might be some meatball Sox fans out there that would STAY AWAY because of Ryno--he is a Cub an in some ways represents everthing Sox fans hate about the Cubs.

Bottom line is this, Jerry has not hired a manager with experience in 20 yeras and I don't think he has hired an NBA coach with experience. So the money is on someone like Cora, Martinez,Ryno, or the guy from Charlotte. Also, logic says it will be an anti-Ozzie..not a strong personality.

Why? What has he ever proven as a manager? He has been running the minor league system for about 2 years and the system has produced a total of 0 bona fide Major League players (dont tell me the tank is one, he has played all of a month). Buddy Bell is no different than guys like Riggleman and Ned Yoast--great "baseball guys" that are actaully bad managers.

i agree with you on the point nobody is going to the park because of the manager...i said " it (attendance) can only help not hurt with a local favorite like sandberg..lots of cubs fans are on the brink of explosion since this dummy ricketts bought this team and having a good team on the south side combined with a lil bit of cubs flavor is only more enticing for the disgruntled cubs fan to check out a few games....if i were kenny i would hire bob brenly

I never understand why Brenly has not gotten another shot. It amazes me that someone like Buck Showalter, Riggs, Eric Wedge, Yoast, etc keep getting hired and Brenly is sitting in the booth. THe only explanation is that he is picky and only wants a few select jobs. I would take Brenly over at least a dozen current Major League managers. That being said, I cant imagine the Sox picking him.
