This should be interesting, after all the shit North talks about Wallace all the time: worst FA signing of all time, etc.

My bet is the ass kissing is the inverse of how much shit he talks. In other words, it'll be unbearable

He pretty much kissed up to him. Disappointed.

Mike slobbered all over him. Chose his limited word knowledge carfully. Typical North, no sack when he has someone on the line that he has been talking crap about all year.

I love how Mike tells Tom Dore how tough he would act with Ben Wallace, if he deserved it. "I had jiggles pull the stats from the last two weeks, and he's not doing that bad". But wait Mike, who were the centers he played against while he's been doing well. Isn't that always your theory as to why he does well? Because the competition is inferior? Then he proceeds to tell us that numbers don't mean everything, because he watched this game and Wallace didn't get a block, but he altered or affected several shots. So maybe you should apply that same thought next time you're mocking him for having 4 points and 7 rebounds and no blocks. This guy is all over the place.

Yes, he definitely had a change of opinion on Ben Wallace.

I don't know how many times, even in the 2nd half, when Ben Wallace would have big games, and the next morning, Mike would question the other team's big man. He definitely did this vs. Boston because neither Fred or Mike (should I be surprised) had never heard of Kendrick Perkins, and that was why Wallace had a big game.

As of late I've also been thinking about how much he talks about point spreads to the point where it seems that's the only thing about the game he cares about. maybe that's why he's never heard of Kendrick Perkins. Half the talk on the show if about point spreads. don't get me wrong, i have nothing against betting and such, but i think the show is supposed to be about sports, not gambling.

This reminds me of a classic moment that sums up North. A few years back, North saw a highlight on Sportscenter of a college basketball game in which a very large tough forward from a mid major college fouled somene hard and later made a key basket to win a game. North bragged and touted this player throughout his entire show that no one had heard of. He even suggested the Bulls should draft this guy. Jesse quickly found the guy and they put him on the air. North assumed he was a stud and started asking questions without any preparation. Thirty seconds into the interview, the player told Mike he plays two minutes a game and that was the most he ever played. He didnt even average a point a game. He was a bench warmer that came in out of necessity. Mike laughed it off but it made a complete fool out of himself.

I guess he's still a pro and the best they have. He will be missed.

Don't you need to know basic things about a team, for example - their starting center, espeically if he does suck like Perkins does - if you want to make intelligent decisions about a gambling line ?

Nah, you just go with what vegas goes with. if the money shifts from one team to another, then you do as well.

In my gambling, I study the teams pretty closely. I know some people, as you say, do follow the money though, and make their decisions.

Mike has stated numerous times that he is a contrarian picker.

Mike is a contrarian who believes "study long, study wrong". Most professional gamblers do study the teams and matchups, but Mike is usually only interested in one thing...which direction is the line moving. If a line is moving one way, he will usually like the other side. When we were in Vegas, if two people told him they liked a certain team, he would say "everybody likes them, I'm going the other way".

That's the mind of a simpleton. Two people going one way on a game is "everyody" in Pappy's mind. Never mind the thousands of other gamblers betting the game that Pappy doesn't know about.

I remember when the Bulls played the Heat last year. Kirk had a couple good games and Wade was sub par to start the series. Bulls were tied 2-2 in the series. Pappy declared that Kirk was better then Wade. Just a dumb comment obviously.

Wade went on to beat the Bulls and win the Finals MVP. That's the mind of a simpleton.

I can understand if he wants to go the other way because the odds are better but if the chalk is going to win and you know it, I say mix up your bets a little to win the most amount of money. It's idotic to bet the opposite of everyone else if you know deep down that your team doesn't have a chance.

He really disappointed me with the Wallace interview. All year he has been busting Wallace's balls and on the interview he kissed his ass, sounded uncomfortable, and it sucked!

His opinion constantly changes based upon what has happened most recent.

Look no farther than Ben Wallace. First half of the season, he struggled, and Mike says he sucks. Now, he's been pretty good in the 2nd half, and now Mike is ignoring everything he said about him in the 1st half.

Your example is even better - I remember the comments as well and they wee laughable.

He trashes Wallace all year. Then Wallace comes on the show, and Pappy licks his sack. Now, he is sick and misses a game, and Pappy goes right back to firing on him. You stay classy, Pappy. WOOF WOOF

he's not an nba fan, its pretty clear. he hasnt known whats been going on with this team all year. wallace had 105 temp last night and they said that before the game started. mike obviously didnt watch the start of the game. same goes for bitch, i mean sally, i mean bernstein. he is still heartbroken that he cant drool over jordan anymore. he hasnt given this team a lick of credit since two years ago when they played the wizards in the playoffs. he stated then that everyone should watch because its best when you can see a bad team develop and grow into a good working group. well, they go through their pains and now they are poppin at the right time for the third year in a row. im overall sick and disgusted by the bulls coverage from the score in general. zack and lawrence are the only voices that actually follow the team. stormin norm should have a show. 10-noon would be fine.

Lawrence has been on the air talking about the Bulls, except he doesn't really talk about the Bulls. He just talks about whether the fans are really into it...things that are Bulls related, but not on the court.

I love how Pappy says that Wallace should play with aches and pains, because he never misses work due to sickness.

Pappy, running up and down the court with Webber and Rasheed with a fever of 105 is different than spouting racist nonsense with a case of diarrhea of the mouth.

youre right. i really cant recall holmes actually talking about the games. in fact now i remember i get pissed at him too because he says nobody cares about the bulls, when im sittin on the edge of my seat nearly every game. i guess just the illusion of bulls talk is gratifying enough since there is so little of it to go around. the best source we got is comcast postgame with norm and gill. and for laughs nba on tnt shows where barkley goes off in his own world.
