All this conference hopping is bad for college football. Conferences should be based on geography to foster rivalries & to help control the cost of & time spent traveling.
The NCAA should step in & control this situation because it is completely out of hand.

One day there's just going to be 2 conferences- The Big 100 and Notre Dame.

Report today is that West Virginia was denied by both the ACC and SEC. UConn is still on the waitlist for the ACC. I think the ACC is on the fence expanding past Pitt and Syracuse.

I would be happy to see UConn join the ACC with Syracuse. It's too good of a rivalry to leave behind. And their football program is surprisingly decent for having just started.

The ACC is likely on the fence whether to expand to 16 teams or not. If they decided to go to 16, UConn is in and they will then need to puruse another club - Rutgers?

Guys, we know UCONN as more of a basketball school given the success of the men's & women's programs, let alone the National Championships they've won between them. UCONN's become a decent Division I football school in only a short amount of time.

Louisville?

I have read that the SEC wants Louisville but Kentucky is blocking it for now.

Mizzou would have made sense for the Big 10.

Lipid will like this:

Iowa State has applied to the Big East if the Big 12 crumbles.

Makes sense to join another sinking ship as yours goes under.

Agreed. Already have a little rivalry with the Illini.

They should block it. Louisville would crush them. At least in FB.

The Mountain West is also talking to the Big 12 schools that might be left behind (K State, Kansas, Iowa State) in a bid to become a BCS conference.

Yeah, I saw that scrolling on the screen during the Iowa game...

...I guess you take what you can get...and I mean that for both parties.

I read where the Big 12 and Big East are talking about uniting if several of their teams bolt.

I heard the academic considerations helped in sinking the Mizzou to Big Ten talk.

Why do they pretend that that's what this is all about?

If they're really serious about academics, they should just ask UC to suit up a team again and it will even out.

Let's not get crazy. Comparing UC to Indiana would hardly be even.

I have heard that a lot down here in Mizzou as well. It really pisses people off down here as everyone likes to think of their school as being a top academic school.

In Missouri being an academic means knowing that Jesus had a pet pterodactyl.

From the Big 12, you'd probably still have Kansas, K State, Iowa State and Baylor looking for a home. From a basketball perspective, they would help the Big (L)East.

I saw something funny rumored today....DePaul looking into starting a football program to help out the Big east. Excuse me while I roll over in laughter!

That would be great.. do we get to hear Larry Holmes telling us that "they aren't that bad" every Monday?

If these geniuses are doing this because 4 mega-conferences gets them more $$ than the current set-up, please explain to me how we are not heading toward 3 super-megaconferences, and then on to two super-duper-mega-conferences down the road? These conferences are destroying each other for the quick buck, but there is no way this just all works out in the end for them.......right? 10 years from now they all say "oops" for one reason or another.

I agree. I'm surprised the Ivy hasn't come calling for them.
