1985 Bears will finally visit the White House
Posted by Mike Florio on September 21, 2011, 7:12 PM EDT

President Barack Obama didn’t have an opportunity to welcome the 2010 Bears to the White House this year, given that the Bears lost to the Packers in the NFC title game.

But Obama has a consolation prize. He’ll host the 1985 Bears, 26 years after they won the Super Bowl with one of the best defenses in NFL history.

According to David Kaplan of CSNChicago.com, the ’85 Bears will visit the White House on October 7.

Per Kaplan, most of the members of the team and some members of the coaching staff and front office are expected to attend.

Kaplan says that the Bears did not visit the White House after winning the Super Bowl. When quarterback Jim McMahon won his second Super Bowl as a member of the 1996 Packers, he reportedly wore his Bears jersey to the White House.

Perhaps the bigger question is whether McMahon also wore pants.

No. Barry might have .0005% of the meatball vote secured.

If there are two things I could do without from this point forward, it is the 1985 Bears and Obama playing the "Look! I'm a sports fan!" card. This is a perfect storm of annoyance.

85 Bears Rocked! Best season ever in sports! Not just factored on the field, but the 85 Bears ruled this town like no other (Hell still do!) They still do commercials 26 years later! I could watch the entire season again with no problem!

All that said, Let It go!

Very ironic that the guy who cried and moaned about people using his first username does not call the President by his real name simply because he disagrees with him.

You're an idiot, scorehead.

I'm sure Barry (Not President Obama. BARRY!) will find some way to screw this up, too. Amirite?

That has nothing to do with it. You call him Barry, yet cried and moaned when people called you by your real name, even though you were stupid enough to use that as your username.

Barry is not a member of the CSFMB. John Kirk is.

Hampton isn't going because hes "not a fan of the guy who is in the white house", & "its been 25 years...let it go".

Agreed.

Well, now I know the answer to the trivia question, "Who is the biggest racist on the 1985 Bears?". My guess was Kevin Butler.

Yeah I heard that, and both statements are BS.....if the 85 team was "Let go" in people's minds, would he be on the radio or TV? Probably not.

Inviting the 1985 Bears team to the white house in 2011 really is stupid & nonsensical.
I mean whats the point?
How many players from that team will actually go, 10 or 15?
