Quietly waiting for this one on Tuesday....someone put the commercials for all three games in the series back to back...

Gotta say, they got the formula down pretty good at this point...

I'm picking it up... primarily because my buds genuine enjoy the Multiplayer. Out of all the games we play, I suck the most at the GOW series. I'm not sure what it is, but I just can't snipe or torque bow like everyone else. I played the GOW 3 Beta and I seemed to get better. There are a few tweaks they made to make it more enjoyable. The game still looks very pretty and hopefully they learned their lessons with multiplayer connection issues to get rid of the major host advantage that pervaded the previous two games in the series.

These are the guys that essentially invented the Horde mode, and the tweaks there with a currency system could be kinda fun.

As for the single player, I am curious how it ends, but the story was so trite to begin with, I'm having a hard time caring. I think co-op should be a lot of fun.

I feel like an old man...9 and I'm packing it in for the evening...two acts in and so far it's pretty pedestrian, at least compared to the previous titles...the story is developing pretty slow and so far the boss fights aren't anything we haven't seen before...

...hopefully it picks up with Act III tomorrow.

I wish I went to bed at 9! I was up until 2:30 AM in the morning playing multiplayer with friends. Multiplayer isn't drastically different from previous installments, but everything is tweaked enough to make this the the best MP installment from the series... as you would expect (fixing bugs over time). Deathmatch games connect well (phew) and the maps are very well layed out. The new weapons (i.e., Digger, One Shot, and Cleaver) are fine primarily because they don't generally cause major lasting advantages. I think the Retro Lancer's power was a very good addition, primarily because it is a very good medium range weapon that can really help counteract the power of the shotgun roadie run (past players of GOW will know what this means).

The new Horde mode with the currency system is VERY good. It's the most satisfying of these game types that I have played. I frankly don't like the new Beast mode, but it is a change of pace. The new beasts and bosses add a lot more variety... that's important in a mode that can get repetitive sometimes.

I didn't even play a second of single player. I'll get to it eventually, but having too much fun with the MP.

I'm currently playing catch-up with this series, since I really have nothing better to do. Just finished Gears 1 last night, should be getting Gears 2 in the mail soon.

Glad to hear the mp and horde modes are solid, Mud.

Enjoy Gears 2, ugie. One of my favorite single player experiences ever.

Solid ending to the trilogy...there are still a couple things I would have liked to have answered (one was even alluded to at the end, but never mentioned again) but I still walked away satisfied. As for the gameplay itself, there aren't as many memorable encounters as the first two games but it still has it's moments.

Looking forward to getting into the multiplayer and other modes this weekend.
