I'm going tomorrow night. I still think they'll resign him.

With all the question marks on the potential pitching staff for next year, I can see him being resigned, but not long term. At least in the short term, the Sox need consistency somewhere on that staff.

I really believe his success this year was based in the six man rotation. If you sign Buehrle you are getting what he has shown you in the last quarter of this year and the last several years: an innings eating .500 pitcher with a 4 ERA who is occasionally really good. If he will take 8-10 million per year it is probably worth it. I think someone else will overpay.

The Sox have Sale, Humber, Danks, Floyd, Stewart, & Peavy all under team control and all of them (except Peavy, and possibly Danks) will be cheaper than what Buehrle would get. They might make an offer to him, but he could also be deemed expendable at this point.

He is expendable.

I don't think Stewart has earned consideration for a starting position last year.

I would be satisfied with Peavey, Danks, Floyd, Sale and Humber with Addison Reed making a strong push in camp if Humber proves to be an aberration.

Buehrle has been a solid starter for a long period of time for the Sox. If he is smart (and I think he is) he will sign with a team that can actually contend next season....a team that plays in the National league-because based upon his numbers in interleague games he should do better there. A team he grew up cheering for, that plays in the state in which he resides...that would be the St Louis Cardinals.

Good Dolphin-if you are counting on Peavy in your rotation, the plan is flawed. With 5 straight seasons with over a month on the DL, Peavy is not one to be counted on. Do you know how many starts he made the past 2 seasons?? 17 in 2010 and 18 in 2011. Counting on him is foolish. HOPING he might help the team to any extent in 2012 is about all one should do.

What makes you think the Cardinals want him?

You have to count on him.

As I indicated, they have backup options already in place should he falter again.

His record vs National league teams, plus the need for another starter along with a real shortage of quality starters coming up in free agency.

steve is correct in one sense. Buehrle has carved up inferior NL bats for just about his entire career. He has the most interleague wins among all pitchers to date.

Be nice if they can finish this off and give the man a win to go out on.

That was a fun game. Great pitcher and a class act. They better resign him.

It'd be nice for him to come back, but I'm fine if he leaves.

I flipped this game on during commercials and was happy to see a nice guy and a true professional have a game like he did to wind up his season and perhaps his career as a White Sox ballplayer.

This is Kennys team now with Ozzie gone. JR loves Kenny and Kenny wants to build this team his way. Buehrle is gone. AJ is gone. Pierre and Quentin are gone. If a contract is up they are history. Kenny wants power guys. He's an American League guy.

Dunn will get another chance and I guess he deserves it but he better be in fabulous shape next year and be willing to adjust his "HR or nothing" approach. Rios should be gone at all cost. I think they have to decide on dumping one high priced guy thats under contract. That will be Rios. Peavey will stay because he's an arm.

Look for a larger mix of young guys with power hitting vets.
