Damn is he annoying. He will not let any of them finish their questions before he jumps in with an answer.

I think he played second. He was a middle infielder for sure.

Alomar is in his second season as Cleveland’s first-base coach under manager Manny Acta. Prior to serving as a coach for the Indians — a team he played for from 1990-2000 — Alomar worked as a catching instructor for the New York Mets for two seasons. He played 20 years in the Majors with seven organizations.

Reads a lot like Ryne Sandberg EXCEPT this guy is not being asked to actually, you know...MANAGE a team first.

Coop is a dick, but he wasn't that bad in the postgame. He was asked if he thinks he could do the job. What's he supposed to say?

I'd be good with Sandy Alomar Jr as manager. He's a good baseball man and a guy who demands respect. The latter would be a welcome change.

Just saw on MLB Network that Sandy Alomar will be the bench coach in Cleveland next year. I would imagine that he can opt out of the new gig for a manager job.

Maybe he could be Manager and catch. I bet he'd hit better and throw out more base runners than AJ.

If Alomar is given the reigns, that might help keep Buehrle around too. Buehrle really enjoyed throwing to Alomar the couple times he was on the Sox.

Wait until the Red Sox make Buerhle an offer and the Yankees top it!

A welcome change would be outfielders who can play defense, batters who can knock in baserunners and a catcher who can throw out baserunners. A team that can play the game fundamentally soundly would be new, too.
A General Manager with more brains than ego might help, too.

The first time I saw Sandy Alomar Jr. was in 1990 at the All-Star game workout day- with the Home Run derby and the Old timers game....before the futures game took it's place (followed by the All-Star game the next evening) at Wrigley Field. In BP Alomar hit nothing but ropes all over the field. The guy had a beautiful swing and was a terrific Catcher. It was a tremendous shame that his injuries adversely affected his career. He may well have had a Hall of Fame career if not for his knee problems. His father was a great baseball man and I would not be surprised if Alomar made a very fine Manager.

Wonder if he becomes Ventura's bench coach.

That's a good question. He's supposed to be Cleveland's bench coach next year.
