Both endzones will in place, but all drives will now go from left to right. Part of the agreement with the NCAA prior to the decision before last year's game was to preserve balance over the course of the two games, so all drives will go away from the North Bleachers. Both athletic departments are still trying to reverse this decison, but it doesn't look like the ruling will be changed.

So... Dr. Ken. Do we have a sig bet? I don't need any points (I'm seeing Illini -9.5) because I don't roll like that.

Jeez, what a choke job by NU. Looked like something NIU would do. Gave up an 18-point lead and then gave up a 4-point lead with just over a minute left.

I don't know if it was scheme or personnel but that last Illini drive was just too damn easy... two plays(seemingly) and they were at the 10... Hope Persa isn't hurt too bad...

Nice comeback. shouldn't have needed it. A couple quarters of bad play calling and another crap performance by the shit king Jason Ford.

Luckily, NW didn't have the talent to maintain.

I have been watching some Illini & NU games this season but I will defer to the experts on here. Do any of you see NU winning? Has the NU "D" improved since last season's embarrasment at Wrigley? In this game,I usually root for the team that needs it most. Usually one team sucks, but so far not this season.

My prediction:

Illini 37 NU 27

Close on the prediction. Last weeks Bears score,I missed by 3.

I'm not going to be too boastful, because the game could have gone either way, and if I were Mud I'd be absolutely devastated. I was shaking 15 minutes after the game. I was like the Michigan game from last year but we won this one.

I will say, however, that I'm not the only person saying anymore that Pat Fitzgerald is in over his head. The Northwestern boards are turning on him hard right now. And next year is going to be a rebuilding year.

I hope Northwestern has lots of success the rest of the year, and would be more than happy to play them again in Indianapolis.

It's sad but he's bigger than just about every WR on the Bears.

And probably better too.

Bump. 12 catches for 268 yards.

Disappointed, but frankly much better than I thought. Illinois is a good team. Glad we held in there. But as much as I like Fitz, this loss had a lot to do with some bad defense schemes. I'll go out on a limb and say we actually do have talent, but just not using them right. The bloom is off Hankwitz's rose.

How about something like this?

Undefeated Fighting Illini Football - Illinois' (that includes Chicago) Big Ten Team

It's usually a week, right?

You can change it after Illinois is 6-0...or Sunday...whichever comes first.

You should make him keep it for the remainder of the college football season.

Actually Irish Boy owes me a signature bet too.

I officially request:

I'm just sticking up for our half-empty stadium.

I was just messin with ya. I was perusing the Rivals and Scout boards for Illinois and I was genuinely surprised how many Illini fans are butt hurt over the campaign. Frankly, I thought it was genius. I'd do it every day of the week and twice on Sunday. I'm not sure it will work, but it's certainly getting people talking. I just wish our football team could help the cause with their on-field performance.

Speaking of butthurt, Lake The Posts is the only Big Ten blog that doesn't have Illinois in his blogpoll top 25. All but one other have them in the top 20. But he did have Baylor move up two spots after losing to KSU.

EDIT: he changed it after some harassment for said butthurtedness in the comments.

IB... I was kinda kidding. I absolve you of all sig bets.

and FWIW, pretty cool you are checking out Lake the Posts. He's a fraternity brother of mine. And although I was in a frat, I don't consider myself the greek type. Either was this guy. But he was the guy pouring through the box scores on Sunday and Monday morning. He studied Radio, TV, Film at NU and is now in Sport Media Production. He started LTP as an experiment and it's definitely grown. By his own admission, he cherry picks stats to look at things through purple colored glasses. Journalism isn't his strong suit, so it's not balanced... but then again it's a blog, so what do you expect?

But I agree... it's ridiculous not to have Illinois in the top 25. LTP actually has another guy who contributes to the site do the Blog Poll now. That kid needs to wake up. I would have ranked Illinois in the top 25 after the ASU game. I've always felt that they were going to be much better this year. He just has some weird bias against Zook. I keep telling him this is a completely different team with Petrino and Koenning... but he fails to listen.

I like LTP. He has his biases but we all do. It's one of the better Big Ten blogs around. I didn't notice it was another author on the poll until now.

Either did I (notice that he didn't do the blogpoll now). LTP is on a mission to fill that highschool-sized stadium. He tries to give all 3 of us NU fans some ammunition (he calls it Wildcat-a-ganda) to defend against the pervasive "Northwestern is irrelevant" argument. It's an uphill battle, but I applaud him for picking up the flag.

BHGP has gotten worse since Adam Jacobi went over to CBS sports. It's still better than most though.

Useful B10 blogs:

LTP
BHGP
Alioneye
Mgoblog
The Only Colors (msu)
Eleven Warriors (OSU)
Off Tackle Empire
Fringe Bowl Team Blog (Minny)

Linebacker U was great for Penn State, but they've folded into Black Shoe Diaries, which I don't think is very good. I haven't found any Indiana, Wisconsin, or Purdue boots I particularly enjoy.
