Dye, no. Podsednik, no. Hermanson, yes, but he didn't matter in the playoffs, and all middle relievers are gambles. You throw a bunch out and hope they are good.

Dye was coming off two straight injury plagued years. Look at how much they signed him for. He was a gamble. Podsednik too.

Your continued dimisall of Hermanson saving 30 games as if anyone could do it is making it really hard to take you seriously.

 "we" aren't getting the catcher from Cleveland. Alomar signed there as the bench coach.

Doesn't matter. He said he can leave for a managerial job.

Alomar still odds-on favourite to get the job.

Dye was a gamble nobody wanted. Some of my Sox guys say Kenny waited everyone out and got Dye cheap. Dye had a long injury history. I remember this vividly as the Cubs also needed a RF, but no approval was going to be given by McFail until they had a deal in place to move Sammy. When they finally did, by far the best guy out there was Jeremy Burnitz. Dye was signed not that long before the Burnitz deal.

Podds was a salary dump. They knew Lee was going to be a $10M+ guy and took a flyer on Scotty pods.

Podds healthy and Dye Healthy are players you want on your team. They had no history to say they would stay healthy.

You pay them a fraction of what they should be worth and hope they dont get hurt. Not Rocket Surgery! or Brain Science! Porblem is that most of the time his gets you a third place finish.

I think Cooper is good, but also think he is a total blowhard and that was the source of Keyser's guy info.

Cooper has guys get back to basics and throw hard strikes, let the other team get themselves out, don't put them on.

It's a really good short term formula for bringing guys back, getting them confidence, etc.

Where it does fall short is in the long term when other teams get a book on guys and see the simple patterns, create scouting reports and teams are ready for Sergio Santos, Matt Thornton, Bobby Jenks.

Back to the point though. Coop never got an offer from KC and he never went to Kenny with any either. Then he ordered another Vodka.

How do you know Coop never got an offer? Because he doesn't have an agent? Oh wait.....

Ozzie quit (with 2 days left in the season) then when the season ended (2 days later) he remarkably received an offer to manage the Florida Marlins. Was that a tremendous leap of faith on Ozzie's part or could it possiby be that he negotiated a deal with the Marlins while he was still employed by the White Sox? But wait, you said that teams can't negotiate with coaches during the season. Did the Marlin's rub another mans rhubarb??

Yes, but if you ask me, Ozzie quit long before September hit the calendar.

I agree but that was a HUGE gamble he took quiting his job with absolutely no idea if another team is interested in him because Bigfan told us teams can't negotiate with other coaches during the season. Man did Ozzie luck out on that one.

and from my guy! Who I am pretty sure has his shit together on this one.

"Can't say for fact it never happened, but very unlikely to happen and more unlikely to tell anyone about it."

Rule 3 (g) TAMPERING. To preserve discipline and competition, and to prevent the enticement of players, coaches, managers and umpires, there shall be no negotiations or dealings respecting employment, either present or prospective, between any player, coach or manager and any club other than the club with which he is under contract or acceptance of terms, or by which he is reserved, or which has the player on its Negotiation List, or between any umpire and any league other than the league with which he is under contract or acceptance of terms, unless the club or league with which he is connected shall have, in writing, expressly authorized such negotiations or dealings prior to their commencement.

Anything else you want me to ask him that you are Frank think is right?

It hurts me when you use other guys to get a second opinion of my original analysis.

Now ask him about civil penalties with tortious interference and all that other legal mumbo jumbo

I did ask prior to your statements being admitted. While I am sure my guy has the basic knowledge on that topic, he is no longer practicing in that field.

The point being outside the legal penalties it never happened. At best Cooper said it did and this would show more than anything what a true Douchebag Don Cooper is.

Yeah Good Dolphin, That legal stuff doesn't scare us ! We are Sox fans, we live outside the law and rules! We live on the streets and cut deals in back rooms, then brag about them to guys we hardly know, even if it would result in tampering charges and probably cost us our current job!!!

Stupid Baseball tampering rules!

Good Dolphin, you and your legal mumbo jumbo can kiss my ass! and print it!

Let's Go White Sox!

Last night My Guy (Long Time Cubs Fan) here at the bar in Sublette told me that Dave Martinez is the guy who was fucking Ryne Sandberg's wife back in the day. I remember she was a slut but did not know Davey was the Guy. 8)
Is this true? If it is how can Reinsdorf resist hiring this guy?

Joe Maddon's Brain!!

Sandberg hired by the Cubs and Martinez hired by the Sox would be a great way to liven up the BP Cup Series.

This always was the rumor and being that Reinsdorf scrapped the Attract the Family Plan for US Cell and went all Meatball with Ozzie, this would fall right into that line of thinking, no matter how much anyone would deny it. It would be a factor.

Rumor was always between Martinez and Palmiero (or Both).

It would be the 10,000 pound pink gorilla in the city.

Les or a Paul Sullivan might need to be quizzed on this one.

This is a new low even for you bigfan. You are so goddam obsessed with Jerry that you tie him (somehow) into the train ran on Cindy Sandberg.

I don't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for you.

So which was it Frank? You seemed very upset about the "Godam Obsession"?

Can I also guess that you mention my name in about 10 to 20 times more post than I mention Jerry's name? So, if you claim I have an obsession with Jerry, then how would you classify your fixation on me?

Says The Catcher From Cleveland has not been contacted by Sox.

I'm shocked JR hasn't required KW to interview at least two candidates. It makes it much easier to negotiate against your top choice when you have a second choice willing to work for less money.

I shall take the no reply as confirmation.

Was told by MY guy, Jerry has contacted a few as well. Jerry is going to need to be sold on Davey M.

Looks like he found his second choice.

What name do you think KW came to JR with this time, only to have JR "suggest" Ventura?
