I wonder what day Robin Ventura simulates ass fucking a columnist in the clubhouse?

No need to worry Ivan. Brick has informed all of us that managers are not a big deal in baseball, so Ventura is fine.

I think this is a strong statement about the esteem in which JR hold the position of baseball field manager. There is absolutely no way to call this a good move. It might work but this does not make it a good move. Has Robin managed anything, ever...I'm not just referencing baseball...has Robin ever had to make difficult decisions that affect people's existence and then execute those decisions?

Now I understand what Bob is talking about when he says JR is strange.

Think of what the job description is that Ventura fit. There are literally thousands if not millions of people that have good character and baseball knowledge.

This was a JR hire as much as Ozzie was and just proves that KW is a patsy.

Every person in this fucking organization was unqualified for the position for which they were hired. It results in them being unquestioningly loyal to JR, which it sure seems is what he values the most. Odd. This, of course, results in the group think of the organization causing the sox borg effect that the entire organization speaks with one voice.

I used to do work for JR. I think I'll throw in an application and see what job pops up.

I'm pretty sure that isn't true.

It's absolutely true.

I don't think so. I've seen the two guys beefing on each other in the dugout with my own eyes when they played together. I don't think Frank really had any friends on the team.

I sure hope they bring up the AA manager to be on the coaching staff. He is literally the Sox version of Quade. Very good at getting in good graces with the front office. It's gonna happen.

Also.....this guarantees Kenny's son a big league roster spot.

I'm not sure if this is a good or bad move, but I keep seeing people say that Ventura has no experience.

Ozzie Guillen was never a manager until 2004 either. Just sayin...

At least he had been on a major league bench tho.

I believe he was with Cox in Atlanta and Florida.

My bad. It was Montreal, not Atlanta. A little different.

  The more and more I read people bashing this move, the more I'm leaning towards really loking it. This team will go as far as the pitching, Dunn, & Rios will take them. Really doesn't matter who is on the bench. Ozzie was not very good in 2010, and he was worse this year.

I'm siding with BRick!!  We will champion the Ventura Bandwagon. Maybe we will be wrong, or maybe the rest of you will be. We'll find out soon enough. One thing is for sure; Ventura won't bring a bunch of distractions and a bunch of circus clowns like Ozzie's kids around this team.

Go sit in the corner with your stupid thoughts.

Ozzie was a coach and bench coach for some of the most brilliant minds in baseball. He had a solid apprenticeship.

I'd put the CFSMB dunce cap on you if it weren't spoken for by half a dozen others.

I think he may have been the first base coach for a year in Atlanta before he went with Torborg.

Could Wikipedia be wrong? I now question everything I know about the world.

I could have sworn he was a coach in Atlanta too.

Player as a backup roll for the Braves, was never a coach for them.

I've heard Frank speak highly of Robin. Robin probably liked Frank as much as anybody could since Frank was kind of a jag. That says a lot since most didn't like him. They did get along. I'm convinced of that. Now Frank is less of a jag so Robin would hire him as hitting coach. Frank gets to go to strip clubs again. Kenny, who hates Frank, would love the hire cuz he would eventually get the thrill of firing Frank. That would be a huge thing for Kenny's ego. He'll have gotten to trade Frank and fire Frank. See how this works? Everybody is happy.

A simple Google search would have let you know that he coached under neither of those guys. He was a backup player with the Braves, was a base coach with the Expos, and then was 3rd base coach under McKeon with the Marlins in 2003.

I know....after the fact. I should have checked my answering machine.

Just called the guy who had this. His buddy's granddaughter in California is dating Ventura's son. She called him last night and told him the news and said "Grandpa, you're the only one in the country who knows this".

It's an interesting hire, to say the least.

I think Harold is already the hitting coach.

I don't want Frank in any position other than PR. He has shown since his playing career that he simply doesn't put time into a craft.

That's why I said "i believe". The implication of the statement "I believe" is that "I don't know". Now go pull your pants down so you can count to 21.

Frank, I believe that in reference to Terry Boers saying that "his guy" had the Cutler trade but he left it on TB's answering machine that he never checks.

Not a Sox fan, but I kind of like this move. I never believed the whole, you need coaching experience or minor league managerial experience <cough> Quade <cough> to succeed. If your a smart baseball guy, you don't need to go to the minors or be a bench coach. This isn't brain surgery.

He certainly has a different personality than Ozzie, which may be a good thing for the Sox.

Maybe I just like the move for the balls to make this hire.
