I'm generally not a fan of button masher games, but the story, graphics, and pace of Batman: Arkham Asylum made this one different. Arguably Batman took the Assassin's Creed route... and they did it well. Straight up fighting AND stealth are equally as fun. And whether you accomplish the goal with stealth or straight up fighting creates a lot of variety. Things appear to open up in the next installment. Batman: Arkham City looks just as pretty, dark, and fun. Even if you not a gamer, the story in these video games is very rich. And if you're not into the story, you can just wander around because the world is just ridiculously amazing to watch. Truly a 3-D comic book.

Yes

Arkham Asylum was quite a bit of fun, and I guess this will be a continuation of the story.

Plus, you can probably pick it up used for less than 20 bucks at this point.

Bump. Game comes out tomorrow and Ill pick it up after I get off work for the 360(that I still need to move to the basement :? ). Ign.com gave the game a 9.5 out of 10 which only makes me that much more excited. I haven't had a good videogame in what seems years. Ok maybe Uncharted 2 but still that was awhile ago.

Just got Arkham Asylum last weekend.

So I'll probably pick this one up in about 2 or 3 years...

I loved Arkham Asylum, but this really takes everything great about that game and improves upon it. It is more "open world sandboxy" than Asylum was. If Skyrim wasn't coming out, it might be my game of the year. Like Rage, gameplay is EXTREMELY clean. And the story moves pretty nicely too.

FWIW, there are games that you sit down to play and six hours go by in a flash. Then you look at your watch at 2:30 in the morning and say to your self "Fukk... I gotta wake up in 3 hours".

I hear what you are saying on the genre. It really spans a bunch of genres (Platformer, Sandbox, Button Masher, Puzzle, Stealth, and all the goodies collecting and achievement whore stuff).

When you look at this game, you have to wonder why other comic book-based games aren't this well done. When you think about "protecting the franchise", I have to wonder why Disney execs don't demand a better product for their franchises. FWIW, I heard Captain America wasn't that bad... but not worth the full price.

I think I may pick this up tomorrow after work...you guys are doing a great job of convincing me it's worth my 60 bucks.

It's between this, MW3 and WWE 12.

I'm leaning toward MW3. I'll just keep playing Arkham Asylum...

You know...I'm really considering WWE 12...it looks pretty sweet from what I've seen so far, plus it has the Road Warriors in it.

Animal vs. Brock Lesnar
Who can no-sell better?

I saw Lesnar got added, too. I like the lineup of "Legends" so far...AA, Demolition, The King...I've been playing SvR 2011, and the legends are meh at best...British Bulldog is boring as shit...Bert Hart is pretty cool, though.

Edit: This deserves it's own thread so IMU doesn't start bitching about "fake sports" again. After all, everyone knows that even though it's fake, it takes more athletic ability than say, golf.

Im in for WWE 12 for sure that game looks pretty bad ass with the Legends Roster that they have. Also COD 3 of course.

As for Batman I literally spent the last 3 hours on this game running around beating people up and leveling up and advancing the storyline a bit. I don't think I will ever find all the Riddlers trophys but I am enjoying the hell out of this game right now.

Also if you're on the fence with this one, check out the previews for Uncharted 3 that comes out Nov 1(I believe) as that might be something that might interest you more than Batman.

I was having trouble with a few different parts of the game figuring it out and what not so I looked up walkthroughs online and this guy was the best I found. Helped me out plenty of times.

Spiffy, since the game place only had AA for XBox and I didn't care enough to go someplace else for it, maybe I'll run some B-Spec on the PS3 while I'm playing XBox.

Since I have a lot more time now that I'm recovering from back surgery #7 I thought I would give this a shot. A buddy let me borrow his. Played it a few times and then pretty much gave up on it. I didn't like that I had no clue where to go or what to do and had to constantly look at walk throughs...and this is an hour into the game. Also, wasn't impressed with the button mashing combat, but I'm willing to over look that and assume it gets deeper the more you play.

Ended up putting it down and finding my copy of Infamous 2 that I hadn't played since last year. Never got more than about 40% into that game before hockey got in the way. Playing it again and after playing Batman I now realize just how awesome Infamous is. So much more fun than Batman.

Shooting people with lightning and flying is a lot more fun than sneaking up on people and using a grappling hook to get around.

Its got a story, but you can skip lots of it and ignore the rest. I just wait till they are done blah blah and they finally get around to telling me who to go shoot.
