North's comments:

"Zambrano isn't an ace."
I realize this is a matter of opinion, but I think he qualifies as an ace. Just because he isn't dominant every start doesn't mean he's not an ace, and looking around the majors, how many other starting pitchers would you rather have ? North seems to be on some vendetta against him, saying he's too immature (with that I agree), and just constantly cutting down the guy. From Listening to North, you'd think Zambrano was a .500 pitcher.

"The Bulls should trade Ben Wallace."
He didn't leave any doubt about that. After ripping his play all season, except for the day he had him on, North is now calling for his trade after his lackluster performance Sunday vs. the Raptors.

Now...from Annie:
"What do they say about ratings....Never upset your base."
I don't think I need to add anything to this.

Commenting on the Soprano's, after North said he was happy with the show last night, Annie commented on other's expectations:
"I think people were expecting major wackage"

"In a golf tournament, only the top two finishers should get significant winnings. How can a guy who finishes seventh get 250K?"

I would say that finishing seventh at the Masters is a pretty good achievement, and worthy of a big pay check.

"Phil Mickelson doesn't want to win."

Just because he isn't throwing clubs, yelling at his caddy and crying like Tiger Woods, doesn't mean he doesn't want to win.

I guess the irony of that statement was lost on Million Dollar Man Mike.

He was even better a little later in the conversation in saying "name me one other instance in sports where a person who finishes 7th gets paid a quarter of a million dollars."

I can name one instance in sports where a person who finishes 25th gets paid 1.7 million.

Yeah that Wallace comment was pure gold. After defending himself the day Wallace was on- "He's played well for the last month", after one game he's calling for him to be traded. I'll just say this- I'll reserve my judgement until after the playoffs. If he's pulling a Shaq and taking blocks of regular season games off to save himself for the playoffs, that's OK by me, as long as he actually does produce once in the playoffs.

Again, it's typical North overreacting to one day. Wallace hasn't been as good as I would have hoped, but his numbers were starting to decline in Detroit if I recall, and this is probably just a natural regression. Thank God that Paxson only signed him to a 4 year deal, and the contract is front loaded. I still think it will be extremely difficult to trade him because realistically, the last 2 years of that deal, he may not be nearly as good as he is now.

I just hope that for next season, we'll have Thomas and maybe one other upfront role player (maybe from the draft) and a veteran signed to a mid-level deal who can play 20-25 minutes a game that can take some minutes from Wallace to keep him fresh for the playoffs.

Also, I know I'm being very cynical, but I just get the feeling that if Derek Lee weren't associated with this disease Mike is helping raise money for, Mike would be mocking it. "Der's only 3000 people with this disease? Let 'em find a cure themselves"

It's also painfully obvious how rigid and forced the show becomes when Annie is there. During her week off, the various guest hosts seemed to work with Mike much better and actually had discussions, as opposed to Annie's forced commentary and subsequent ripping by Mike and Fred. I know it's been said a million times before, but when she's gone for awhile then comes back, it's really noticeable.

Not flaming you, but people raise money all the time for different causes.
I'm not sure what you mean when you say it benefits only 3000 people. Most of them are kids losing their vision. I sure don't see a problem with trying to raise awareness of this or raising money to try to find a cure.

I think what Coach is saying is that it would make a lot more sense for North to be raising money to find a cure for terminal stupidity.

It's obvious if somebody knows the subject matter at hand based upon how they speak about it. For example, Annie almost always speaks in very general terms about anything sports related because she has almost no specific information to give.

She'll say, "Yeah, they played bad."
Mike will say, "Yeah, they couldn't get a bunt down, they walked too many people" (not that Mike's an expert, but compared to Annie he is).

I am assuming that she is saying that their show is the "base" of wscr? If so, she needs to get off the crack.

I think Mike did this so he could get attention, Mike has to do things like this convince people what a good guy he is, I wonder if he even cut a check today for this charity?

all the wallace haters are going to look real stupid if ben can run the playoffs with his back in good shape. why the fuck would your you push an injured starting center during the regular season, especially in a season that nobody should expect a ring from. i dont even give a fuck how wallace does in the playoffs this year. next year and the two after that is when ill start worrying. he should rest the remainder of the regular season (they throw him out there for contractual reasons, blame the system if you dont like that he cant do a whole lot), let thomas get out there and get beat the fuck up to gain the experience. he needs all he can get, his talent is skyrocketing and you cant learn from the bench at his point he's at. we might have a shot at a ring next year, but 08-09 and 09-10 seasons are where the real heat will be on this team. no excuses by then, we must be a top 5 elite team or heads will roll.
