Then you have to better define "Horrible" deals. Because in the real world where GMs are compred to their counterparts they are not "Horrible"

So Jerry is the issue? The guy that spent more money than ever last year even with a less than capacity stadium? He's not the issue. I don't really know why he's worse than he was in 2005, besides keeping Kenny too long. He did get rid of Ozzie, and most of the other coaches, but for whatever reason he decided that Kenny could stay. It's clear who he blamed for the issues of the last few years.

If he put his hands up he'd see 7 rings.

Do you think that something has happened since 2005 that makes Reinsdorf incapable of running an organization?

You made a comment. I asked you how it was relevant and how it compared to the rest of the league.

The ignorance was the guy who failed, all day, to provide an answer as to why its relevant and not just par for the course with any big spending team, to have a few bad signings.[/quote]

It's not my obligation to both make my argument and address yours.

In this realy world, Theo Epstein is considered a great GM by the outside world but his organization was more than happy to relieve him of his duties. The Red Sox seemed to have no problem evaluating his work product solely on his individual accomplishments and not in comparsion to others.

I sucked less than the other guy doesn't seem like the real world definition of success.

We already had the discussion weeks ago. There was nothing else to say other than an exaggeration of my point used in order to incite.

How many White Sox Playoff appearances in 30 years????
He bought the Bulls with Jordan on the team....
Since 2005, Williams has been allowed to spend $6,000,000 in payroll for ONE PLAYOFF victory.
The White Sox Farm system is the worst in baseball. 3 straight seasons the White Sox are under .500 against the American League and WITHIN the always dynamic A.L. Central.
The Ozzie-Kenny spat being allowed to fester for yet another season makes me convinced Reinsdorf is incapable of running a PROFESSIONAL baseball operation, but he would be great as a Scoutmaster.
I'm sorry if I have this strange misguided opinion that the ticket buying customer deserves the APPEARANCE of an organization that is competent and not some REALITY of a fraternity house of the Chairman's favorite ex-players.
2005 may as well be 1908 for all I care now.

Sounds like you want to continue this discussion. Unfortunately, I can't risk being accused of "arguing just to argue" so I'll just let you push the panic button as furiously as you have been lately.

So you no longer think that Reinsdorf is a capable owner or is it your point that he's just been lucky to win 7 titles in his career?

There's almost no chinese food that I eat that isn't either deep or stir fried.

There is no panic. I think the Sox will be competitive next year. You know that my opinion is that you have to be extremely good or bad as a manager to have much effect on an ultimate record. Organizational dysfunction is only related to this because of the inept hiring process.

Another response. I do hope that my "arguing just to argue" has not been a major inconvenience for you.

Pretty cool that the organization can be a "mess" and yet still be competitive.

bears organization is a mess and competitive

You act like it's a unique opinion that you would argue with a mirror.

Imagine how many titles the Bulls would have won without a guy named Jordan on the team when Reinsdorf bought it!
Krause put those teams together.
Krause hired Jackson.
Reinsdorf wrote the checks. Now Reinsdorf is more than a meddler..he is a puppeteer with the Sox and his little lackey bunch of alumni.
As I recall, it was Reinsdorf who SUGGESTED Kenny Interview Ozzie when Kenny wanted Gaston as his Manager.
If you believe Reinsdorf has ever had a long range plan for consistent success for the White Sox and implemented it, I will sell you Buckingham Fountain.

Are you joking with that? How would you know how the RedSox evaluated him? Common sense dicates they would compair him to his peers.

Also, The Red Sox organization has been predicated on comparing themselves to the Yankees for decades, so its even a little more odd you say that.

All I want to know is what it means that he had these couple bad deals? Do you believe he is not good at acquiring free agent talent? Because like I pointed out, it seems like every GM would inevitably have bad deals.

I'm not unhappy with the Ventura signing*. I'm much more unhappy with KW and his moves, mainly the FA signings. I think the team could actually compete in 2012 and maybe do better than a lot of people expect. That said, I'm not getting my hopes up for the coming years. I'll be excited for Spring Training and Opening Day and such, but I will be very very cautiously optimistic for the next few seasons.

*bigfan, I put this asterisk in here special just for you because I know you are going to try and jump all over this before 9am this morning. I was surprised with that move, and nothing more. It was such an unexpected move that my reaction was indeed "what the fuck." I don't think its a bad move, not so much because or Ventura, but be because he is the total opposite of Ozzie. I've had that WTF reaction many times with many different trades/FA signings with many different teams.

So Jerry Reinsdorf's whole record of success is basically because of one or two lucky breaks/moves?
