F-ing EA!!!!!!

Fool me once, shame on you... fool me 5,384 times, shame on ME!!!

"Battlefield 3 is currently experiencing server problems on the Xbox 360.

On attempting to connect to the game's multiplayer features, users are met with an error message saying the game cannot connect to the EA Online servers.

DICE is aware of these problems and is currently working to resolve them. "We're aware of the server issues on the Xbox 360 and are working to correct them as soon as possible," wrote the official Battlefield 3 Twitter account.

EA's support website previously warned of problems happening tonight - the game's launch date in the US - but asserted that problems would be "temporary".

"Unprecedented demand may affect online performance tonight in Battlefield 3. We're aware of the issue and doing everything possible on our end to make sure the servers are working at 100%. We apologize for any dips in performance you may experience, but want to assure you they are only temporary."

Xbox 360 owners are also experiencing difficulties with Battlefield 3 social platform Battlelog - the service presenting users with a "the BF3 Statistics Engine is currently down" error message when trying to access information.

DICE's last game, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, was also plagued with server problems on its opening weekend."

You seem upset. Please don't get so upset because you can't play one video game out of your vast collection of video games tonight.

DICE focused on the PC game number one and the console games number two because they are and will always be a PC game developer. Same as Infinity Ward focusing on console for MW2 and porting over the game to us PC gamers after the console version was perfected.

Why are you mad at me for pointing that out?

edit: By the way, these dedicated servers are amazing.

I typed this calmly.

And I don't even have the game, as I knew this was going to happen, so your assessment there is off, as usual.

Your explanation in this post is much better than your "console kids" shit in the original post. That's why I responded the way I did.

Both are derogatory stereotypes.

Hey, I never said you guys were a master race...you're just arrogant assholes. :P

Fair enough...enjoy your game.

I rarely read this section but Mud's title was intriguing

So there is a rivalry between PC gamers and Console gamers?

Really?

At the end of the day, lipid was 100% correct with his strategy. Buy the game a month after release and let EA work the kinks out.

And IMU maybe right too, although I highly doubt it. If they actually conciously focused on the PC version instead of the console version, it would be a very bad business mistake. EA is a public company with shareholders. I'm not sure of the exact stats, but the console version will bring in a lot more cash that the PC version just based on sales volumes.

As for PC vs. Console... talk about a nerd fight. Can't we just move on to Star Wars vs. Star Trek? ;)

Finally, I saw this on PGL:
They got them back up for all of an hour or two. I got in 2 full games and have since been kicked out of 12. They put up another tweet that said they were having problems again.

I understand that with it being the first night there may be problems, but EA had server problems with the Madden release and didn't seem to learn from that mistake or the fact that they want to host their own servers.

Kinda frustrating. Especially when I get kicked out of games I'm actually doing well in

Battlefield 3: Connection / Error problems send EA servers down for you?
By: Alan Ng | October 26, 2011

It looks like everyone’s Battlefield 3 launch party is continuing to run into problems. After initial problems with the Xbox 360 servers yesterday, it looks like PS3 gamers are also having problems whilst trying to connect to EA’s servers.

We can personally confirm that the PS3 version is also running into teething problems after launch, as we ran into the infamous ‘Failed to connect to EA Servers’ quite a few times during our last session on the game.

It looks like many of you are also having the same problems, which isn’t exactly ideal one day after launching in the US. At the same time, we understand that demand on EA’s servers must be pretty incredible and it has become almost impossible to have a problem-free launch in terms of server connections for such a title as Battlefield 3 – it happened with Black Ops on launch if I remember correctly.

EA has been keeping frustrated gamers up to date on the server outages on their official Twitter account. So far, there’s no info on the PS3 version having problems, but we definitely ran into those errors so it would be handy if any of you can confirm this also.

Hopefully it won’t be too long until EA sort the problems out, as we’re sure everyone is dying to get back into action and rank up those classes as quickly as possible. The connection problems could be seen as further disappointment for PS3 owners after finding out that EA has inexplicably decided to not include the promised Battlefield 1943 game on the disc which is what they first announced at E3 – We’re sure we’ll be finding out more on that soon.

They know they won't be able to beat MW3 on console - that is a given. However, BF3 is likely to beat MW3 on PC. And, again, DICE makes PC games. They have a few console games here and there over the years, but they are very much a PC developer. If Battlefield was to focus on console, I'm sure EA would have one of their other developers create it.

That is directly opposite of what EA and DICE have stated publicly. That maybe right, but that is your speculation at best. Again, EA being a public company has also repeatedly stated the future is on handheld devices and consoles, so I would highly doubt that they are stupid enough to concentrate their efforts on the PC version to the detriment of the console product. DICE did a remarkably great job with both Bad Companies. You may disagree, but they BOTH were commercial successes. Not as big as Modern Warfares, but certainly profitable enough for them to repeatedly refer to the successes on EA's earnings calls. If you think that EA is thinking about BF3 console versions as an afterthought, then I think you really haven't listened to what EA has been saying publicly about the direction of this game as well as the direction of the company.

I do believe they are profit maximizing entities and it would be highly stupid for them to think of their console version as the secondary focus of this title. And if you don't believe that, then I think I need to take you back to some basic finance classes.

It's not a question of when it comes out. It's a question of what makes more money for the company. You really need to understand that before you opine on this stuff.

Unless Dice wants to become a developer of Farmville-type games they better start caring more about consoles than PC's. It's going to be hard to sell big numbers of PC games when one of your primary demographics is people who live at home and no longer have a dedicated PC and instead just have an iPad and a console.

How about this, IMU? Since you even admit that BF3 on the PC is a completely different game. Why don't you start a BF3 PC version thread and make all your comments in there. And we'll reserve this thread and the other BF3 thread to the console version... good deal?

Battlefield 3 is a game designed for 64-player servers, large scale combat, and excellent graphics. Console games can't do that.

Diablo 3 is a game designed for point and click play and hotkeys. Sure, they might sell a bit on console...but they don't know how to develop console games - and the game might not translate well on console. That isn't stopping Blizzard from making oodles and oodles of money.

DICE had to strip tons of features out of BF3 for it to work on console. Blizzard would have to do the same for console.

The question is - is it worth it? How many console gamers are going to pick BF3 over MW3? This is especially important when discussing DLC.

Maybe console gamers that purchase BF3 might not buy any DLC for BF3 because they will be playing MW3 and all of its DLC.

PC gamers have chosen BF3, and will likely stick with it...as it gives PC gamers way more features than MW3 can provide.
I was more talking about the near future which isn't very bright on the PC for games like that. The only question is how long will it take for PC sales to lag enough that many 10-18 year olds don't have access to ones fast enough to play these type of games. They'll always have a console though.

It's not like consoles can't have keyboards and mice either. They just don't know because most people still have PC's.

Thanks, IMU... now please go away.

Just to get back to the original topic. I got a little pamphlet in the box for BF3. It asked you to join the "Gun Club" or something like that and unlock a special gun for online play. No surprise that it wouldn't let me log on to the site that was required to join said gun club. In addition, another friend suggested logging on to battlefield battlelog to help create an online community for people to play BF3 together. No surprise again that I couldn't log on.

EA's website is a shit show before this launch. And continues to be a shit show afterwards for one of their biggest titles. They are clearly marketing for fans to go to their website and create a community. However that community they created is the most dis-organized I've ever seen and the website setup is one of the more convoluted ones to boot.

I give up.

No thanks, considering that you didn't even address what I was saying.

I'll buy BF3 for xbox at some point, though Gears Of War 3 is enough to keep my attention for a while.

BR... send me a note sometime... I'll be done with Rage and Arkham City at some point. I'll let you borrow them as long as you want for free... just need to pay shipping. I also have a bunch more. Red Dead Redemption, Crysis 2, Brink, and a couple others. I think Krazy Ivan still has my MW1 game.

I thought Miranda Frost was hot as hell in that when it came out. Saw it again recently and while she didn't age at all she didn't age well.
