The Ventura County Star reports: Former Chicago Bears quarterback Erik Kramer's son Griffen, a quarterback for the Thousand Oaks (Calif.) football team, apparently died in his sleep at a friend's home Sunday morning, school officials said Monday. Griffen Kramer was 18.

Although the cause of death was undetermined, alcohol poisoning was cited as a possibility by Kramer's family, a school official said.

Griffen? ........Griffen? Really? You're going to name your kid Griffen?

Griffen, huh? Well umm.... yeah. Bye, Griffen.

OK, let's dance crustball... what the fuck does a thread on the CSFMB have to do with the loss of Griffen Kramer? Why are you being so fucking maudlin in demanding that there be some "respectful observance" of this kid's death? I never knew that "Griffen Kramer" existed, nor did anybody else on this forum before your post.... and why did you run and post this? Did you know the kid and think that he was an exemplary member of society whose death warrants a moment of observation? Or was it more that you wanted to get a little attention for being up to date on recent deaths and find some sort of a subtly understated glee in reporting on his death because you actually had some reason to start up a thread and come off like some caring nurturer who bathes in the sanctity of the recently departed? It's kind of like hanging out with your grandparents once you're in your 20s/30s... the conversation on their end is 75% who's dead and dying and you're left in an awkward place going "....well that sucks" when the truth is that you've got absolutely nothing to say and truthfully you kind of wonder why they brought it up, seeing as it's a conversation killer.

shit..... how did I disrespect the kid anyways? I just can't believe that anyone would name their kid "Griffen", which says absolutely nothing about the kid himself... It's not like I called him a piece of shit who choked on his silver spoon in his sleep, it's not like i used the opportunity to make a colorful jab about erik kramer... it's just that when you introduce the name "griffen" into my cerebral lexicon i'm wired in such a way that my gut response is going to be "who the fuck names their kid "griffen" ????" i'd be horrendously disingenuous with you and the rest of the board if my response was anything but.

Countless tens or hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people die each day. There's plenty of tales of tragedy woven into their collective life story.... just because this "griffen kramer" dude happened to successfully flee the penis of an ex-bears-quarterback doesn't make him any more special than anyone else who died today... and while it sucks and my imaginary thoughts-n-prayers are with the kramer family and rah rah rah, really... nobody gives a shit, dude. and your reply to me in the wake of a legitimate question (cuz really, who DOES name their kid "griffen"???) has exposed you as an outwardly-maudlin sanctimonious prick.

Yeah,Ok...your right. Because that's the thought of most sane adults when they read of a tragedy. I'm a dad and can't imagine what Kramer and his wife are going through right now. Of course,I don't know the kid from Adam but when a young life of any kind is snuffed out,it bothers me as a human being and a parent. I'm hoping there are more people like me in the world than like you. Sanctimonius prick??? What the fuck does that make you with the mental capacity of an 8 year old to make a crack like that?

OOH NICE AD HOMINEM, SHITHEAD!!! so now if anyone disagrees with you they're "children" and "insane" because CLEARLY JIMMYPASTA IS SOOOOO RIGHT THAT, DUH, ANYONE WHOSE VIEWS ARE ASKEW FROM HIS IS NOT A "SANE ADULT."

and to verify my "maudlin" remarks, now you're playing the "I HAVE A KID" card to back your shit up... come on man, alls i'm saying is why the fuck are you being so sanctimonious? i prefer the wikitionary definition of sanctimonious cuz it comes closest to what i feel the word means:

sanctimonious (comparative more sanctimonious, superlative most sanctimonious)
Making a show of being morally better than others, especially hypocritically pious.

so you're morally better than me, and i don't think you deny that you've gone and proven that, especially in the wake of letting everyone know that i'm an insane child.

so the next time that "a young life is snuffed out" and "it bothers [you] as a human being and a parent" i want you to be front and center with another thread. why, i fully expect you to comb the obituaries every day and keep us up to date on every young life getting snuffed out, cuz otherwise i think it'd be patently obvious that the only reason you gave a shit about this kid is that he was shot from the dick of a guy who QB'd for your beloved bears during the 1990s. if you wanna accuse me of being an "insane child" in the wake of my asking a perfectly warranted question (AGAIN: WHO THE FUCK NAMES THEIR KID "GRIFFEN???") then i'm going to be there to "flip the script" and call you a sanctimonious geezer for acting all high and mighty like your vaunted thread can only be a shrine to somebody that nobody on here knew or cared about before you floated in on your cloud of morality and tried to make us "pay our respects" for reasons i cannot personally fathom.

It's sanctimonious because I feel bad that someone died? That's my business. Just like it's your business "to drive around the block 100 times to get to the house next door" in making a point in just about every 50000 word post you make.

The kid would probably garner more sympathy 'round these parts if he were a convicted murderer being put to death or something along those lines.

How terribly sad. :(

Rest in peace, Griffen. Prayers to his family and friends for his loss. I can't even imagine the grief of his parents. :(

oh jesus... fuck all of you turds. i've already beaten the words "sanctimonious" and "maudlin" to death, but the fact that everyone's acting all high and mighty and "wow ur a douchebag this really sucks you have to pay your respects" is just laughably stupid.

IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT DYING SUCKS. IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING R.I.P. AND ALL OF THAT CUZ SHORT OF THIS KID'S PERSONAL ENEMIES NOBODY REALLY WISHES HE WAS DEAD.

the point i originally tried to make is that it's ok to ask the obvious (and still unanswered) question "who the fuck names their kid griffen?" because seriously, i mean, who the fuck names their kid griffen? asking such is no sort of disrespect to the dead kid or anything, and furthermore, this (sorry) sanctimonious act everybody puts on that some thread on a fucking internet bulletin board about the kid has to be 100% canned cliche "RIP" soulless sentiments from people who are only jumping in to say those three letters in order to make themselves look good in front of a group is hooey... nothing anyone does or says in this thread has any bearing on the kid, the kramer family, or anything that has to do with anything outside of a bunch of internet bulletin board people having a pointless faux-sentimentality-seething circlejerk.

when amy winehouse died where were the whiteknights stopping people from cracking jokes about her or saying anything?? go look at it >> viewtopic.php?f=127&t=60796 >> people are cracking jokes about mary kate olsen's apartment... heath ledger jokes are in there too, making it a 2-for-1,

basically, i was going out of my way to defend my right to ask THE OBVIOUS FUCKING QUESTION "who the fuck names their kid griffen?" in this thread. i confess that i went out of my way to pick a fight with jimmypasta, as my initial servo of "let's dance, crustball" very well should have signified to you... and it prolly was a bit of a reach to try and dive into the psyche of people who make RIP threads on an internet messageboard for non-celebrity/athlete people who they otherwise don't know IRL, i'll give you that.

HOWEVER

as unpopular as it might be, i'm going to invoke some george-carlin-type-sentimentality and say that it's ok to to make jokes about things, living or dead; or in this case, it's ok to ask a question that seriously needs to be answered (cuz i really really wasn't joking... i seriously want to know who the fuck names their kid griffen? was he an unplanned pregnancy or something? i want to know) because like... if this thread was going to be printed out and mailed to the kramer family as the CSFMB sending their condolences, yeah, then i see hte need for 100% RIP/faux-sentimentality only posts.... otherwise, jesus... who's the one that needs to lighten up?

/me removes both the stick up his ass and the stick up the ass of the stick in his ass

and while i won't win any popularity contests, i stand by everything i've said in this thread, save the obvious jimmypasta flamebaiting by calling him a crustball and later a shithead. the ad hominem accusations still stand, but like, jimmy, i extend my most sincere apologies to you for using you as a means to try and artifically manufacture board drama for my own entertainment today.

once you popped in with some flak for my asking the question that needed to be asked (and still needs to be answered), i decided to go full-bore overdrive and calling you both a crustball and a shithead was out of line. i harbour no ill will and/or enmity towards you, nor do i think that you're truly a crusty old shithead... i just wanted to get you pissed off in order to make you more emotional when you responded, and also i figured i'd draw a few other people into the battle.

having read what i said tho, i'm right about the actual points i tried to make... and while my presentation wasn't what it should have been, i realize it'd be a pyrrhic victory for me, if even semantically a "victory" at all, if i kept on battling in this thread. i'm going to let it go, and i'll smile knowing that i've given RFDC yet another chance to look great by pointing out to the world that i'm a douchebag.

i should make a mult named miniRFDC whose slogan is "i read RFDC so you don't have to" and then i'll just go around into random threads and quote people and go "yeah, what he said" and then you'll never have to bother reading another post from that soulless lemming ever again =D

who the fuck names their kid griffen?

10 seconds of internet research yielded the following:

1. It is not clear if Kramer's son spelled his name "Griffen" or "Griffin." I found both spellings in various articles about Kramer.
2. While I found little info on the name "Griffen," according to http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.co ... iffin.html in 2010 "Griffin" ranked 231 out of 1000 in popularity of boys' names.
3. Sometimes families will take a last name of a family member and use it as a first name for a baby. Maybe that is how this kid got his name?

I hope this helps answer your question.

Peace.

it's tragic for the parents, for sure. but the kid simply overdrank. it's not like it was unavoidable.
