We need to get rid of our 15 month old cat.
He's a total douchebag, and he's absolutely the opposite of what anyone would want in a pet.
He's perfectly healthy. We paid for his shots, neutering, front declaw, etc. this past Feb. 2011.
He just does not fit in with my family. He stalks, prowls, and attacks all 3 of us out of nowhere.
He tries to get outside all the time, and despite him being an inside cat, he's fucking feral as can be.
I feel like if I'm honest about the fact that, plain and simple, he's just a fucking psycho, no one will take him.
There is a shelter directly next door from the vet we take him to, so I could totally prove that I'm not
trying to get rid of him because he's sick, he's just a fucking unlikeable asshole that we can't stand anymore.
As a lifelong pet owner, and especially cat lover, this is the only animal I've ever wanted to get rid of, but we have to.
Help?

Your cat needs to find a productive outlet for his pent up energy. Have you considered enrolling him in horseback riding classes?

Why front declaw? So he can die a miserable death as a pussy when you eventually dump him on some back country road? Cat lovers don't declaw. Its called a scratching post and training...

Not useful, but amusing.

Anyway. Your cat is in physical pain. He doesn't like you... A lot of the time vets fuck up the declawing and damage nerves in the cats paw causing a lifetime of painful walking...

The cat is blaming you for something... Maybe you fart nasty. Maybe he hates the tv you watch...

some cats are just crazy...but at 15 months, that cat is still very young.

i would give it away if it's being so bothersome that you had to come here to post about it. :)

Sometimes when a cat tries to bite you when you pet it, that is a way of expressing pleasure. Same thing with a female.

I had a cat that loved me and my wife, but hated every single other person that would enter the house. He clawed up my dad's leg and we had to get him front declawed. He was ok after that and was fine with us, but still never really liked my parents.

I have two cats right now that I might have to be giving to someone else. I don't really want to, so I'm trying to find a reliable friend who will take them. The one female cat is like a dog and she adores me and follows me everywhere....gonna be tough to have to let her go....don't know if I can do it or not. :(

I would try to give it to someone who has alot of experience with cats that you trust. Maybe that cat will act better around them.

Did your dumbass give the cat cocaine before? Has the cat had access to cocaine? Seriously.

Well, considering I was only stating that I had no experience in getting rid of, or giving away a pet, not sure why I'm getting
such hostile replies, unless I just simply consider the sources.
I was simply asking if anyone had any advice on whether of whether or not I was going to have to provide a
full psychological report on the cat before a shelter might take him. Thanks for not being a douche with your reply, W_Z.

1. Don't declaw your cats.
2. The cat is either in pain, or scared.
3. Sometimes cats bite to show affection.
4. Cocaine is the only thing I've ever heard of making a cat legitimately psycho...

1. Go ahead and elaborate on that, Captain PeTA.
2. NOPE.
3. Maybe my cat can get a walk on for the final Twilight movie.
4. Go fuck yourself.

Vets are terrible surgeons and fuck up nerve endings cutting too deep all the time... Also if your cat was to ever get outside then you'd probably want that cat to be able to defend themselves... Also all you need is a spray bottle, a newspaper, and the word no to prevent scratching...

Once they identify a scratching post they stick to it. That's why you have to train them on a scratching post when they are younger...

that's not always true. both the cats we had had scratch posts (we had them since kittens) and still not only dug up the carpets, but dug all over the doorways too. it looked like we had termites.

SD, sometimes you just get a bad cat.
If you give it to someone you will just be transfering the problem to someone else.
I don't think you'd really feel good about that.
Sad to say, but I doubt that any shelter will take your cat.
There are too many of them and they know there is probably a problem if you want to give it up.
Putting it to sleep, unfortunately, is really the only serious option for you.
The only other choice would be to put it in a box and leave it on the doorstep of a shelter before it opens.
It will probably be put to sleep but your conscience won't feel as bad as if you did it on your own.
