I would strongly recommend it.

Twisted Metal is now delayed until early 2012.

A Twisted Metal reboot? Now we are talking.

It looks like Fallout shooter. It probably has better shooter mechanics than Fallout, but much much much worse RPG elements. It also looks to be much more linear... don't expect to wander around the wasteland to find stuff. I bought it and will play a bit tonight. I expect it to be fun, but not to have the replay value of Fallout (which I'm fine with because I only played Fallout once anyway).

Have you any interest in Dark Souls? I wasn't interested in it at all, but the reviews are REALLY positive.

I was expecting a lot actually...everyone was performing felatio on the game at E3 last year...

...I would have expected to see higher scores....that's all.

Man the only game I pre-ordered (The Old Republic) and the only game I'm considering pre-ordering (Saints Row 3) didn't even make your first post list.

I don't put any MMO's on the anticipated games list, because most are not good upon release, and it takes several months for the devs to either flesh it out, or for it to bomb. MMO's are still very much works in progress on release date. I don't know what to make of Star Wars - but based on the developer not knowing anything about MMO's, plus the gameplay and information released so far make me not hopeful.

Also...Saints Row 3...lol. It isn't my type of game.

It's the anticipated list, not the future 90+ Metacritic list! But if you don't start playing MMO's at release you'll fall too far behind. Besides MMO's are usually at their most fun at release, when you don't know what you don't know and everything's new and you can explore everything. Shit, you could even make an argument Star Wars Galaxies was at it's best when it first came out because that was before they fucked it up royally with the NGE.

I've always been a GTA guy and never even played the first 2 SR's but I didn't like GTA4 much and have been entertained by what I've seen of SR3

A couple of my buddies are loving Dark Souls. They say it is a refreshing game because it is very difficult. They said prepare to die A LOT. If I do buy the game, it might be one of those ones where I buy the strategy guide too... seems like I will need a lot of help.

Thanks for the advice on the guide. I actually never buy guides, but since I don't RPG it much, I was thinking it might be handy. I picked up Dark Souls on ebay for $39 (good print, methinks). It hasn't arrived yet.

It is indeed very difficult. You've never played Demon's Souls, so the idea will be new to you.

Stay away from the guide. While the game will piss you off and frustrate you to whole new levels - that is part of the game. You want to feel accomplished when you finally figure an enemy out, or get past a difficult area.

I picked this up on Ebay. It is brutal hard.

Spending the $60 on NHL 12 might have been the dumbest thing I have ever done video game wise... It might only be MW3 for me this winter, and then I'll pick up everything that I missed out on some time next year... I'm sorry I'm poor...

Do you have a PC that can run BF3? If so, I'd take a whirl with that. If you were considering the console version, just ask yourself if you enjoyed MW2 or Battlefield: Bad Company 2 more. That is your answer.

I prepaid for MW3 or MW2.1, so that's coming regardless. Messedup thinks that it could run on my pc, but the beta was awfully rough on it, so there's that sense of uneasiness paying $60 and being frustrated by my pc...

that's why I'm glad I bought MW3 for the ps3, I can just put it in, and not worry about anything.

Concrete evidence 360 is equal to PC and better than PS3.

At the time I wrote it up, it was 90. I wonder which no name game review sites gave it 100's?

I'm talking about Skyrim. My bad for not clarifying.

MW3 is at an 89 now for 360...for shame.

Got a text from Gamestop that I can pick up Lego Harry Potter 2 at 12:01 AM Friday. How cool is it that it's such a big game they're having a midnight release for it!

Went and the line is out the door, that's a lot of Lego fans. I live 1 minute away so I'll just go back in 10 minutes.

Hell yeah, got a free Dumbledore's Army t-shirt for my wife. There was some dad and his kid there too picking it up so I wasn't the only one.

Very good article about this generation's first person shooters....Hard hitting stuff - but very true.

I miss Medal of Honor... Those original games were pretty special: espionage, somewhat challenging AI, good shooting mechanics, and health packs... But that's not what people wanted. So EA tries to reinvent the series, and turns it into a CoD clone.

There are developers who try to offer a different FPS, Operation Flashpoint comes to mind, where they don't even offer multiplayer. But they are so underfunded that the AI and gun play are so horrific that sales will never amount to anything...

I'm pretty sure MW will not be coming back, here's hoping that market shifts back to tough single player games...

What's the incentive for these companies to change anything if these kind of FPS titles are the highest selling year after year?
