I'm gonna check out a few more reviews before I trade in a bunch of games at gamestop and get one of these...

I have BF3 and am getting MW3, both are good for different reasons. If I were you, i'd probably get MW3 with the comments you made,I think you'd enjoy it more.

Frajent just called me dumb on the sneak... :(

Fuck, I was hoping you weren't going to catch that.

Actually, you called yourself that.

I'm the same way though, sometimes I don't want to think, I just want to go out and kill people.

I mean, seriously. What's the big difference between the two games. I know you use vehicles and can destroy shit in BF, but you can use strategy in both...right?

Someone else can disagree, but here's a quick and dirty...

Call of Duty games: run ahd shoot...kill kill kill...the ability to use strategy is there, but most randoms you find online will only be interested in getting killstreaks and whatnot...get a group of people focused on the actual game, and it can be a very enjoyable experience.

Battlefield games: stalk and wait...die die die...you must use strategy or you won't have a very good time...well, most likely...the quantity of randoms who think like this will be better...again, get a group of friends focused on the mission, and good times ensue.

So both are fun, but based on what you said, I'd get MW3.

Yeah the vehicles is a big one that I like. You can use strategy in both just like you said, also you're not going to take 5 bullets in battlefield. You take one or two and you're pretty much done, I think it's more realistic.

and what lipid said

Krazy Ivan,
Where do we start? Tell me what I'm missing IMU.

- Call of Duty is like Mad Dog 20/20, it gets you drunk quick and it ain't pretty.
- Call of Duty is a run and gun (aka "twitch") shooter.
- You pop into a game for a quick game. get killed a bunch and hope you kill more of them then you die. Kill/death is primarily the only thing you care about... unless if you are in the small minority that doesn't play Team Deathmatches
- And if you are in a group that plays Domination, then you are forever slamming your controller down because your "teammates" aren't capturing points, but simply worried about their kill/death ratio
- It's simple and great for a person that really doesn't plan on communicating or developing a working relationship with his/her teammates.

- Battlefield 3 is like a vintage cab whose grapes were picked at perfection. For those who have time to savor it, it offers a superior experience.
- You need to carefully pick your class, equipment, and gun in order to complement your squad
- It's not all about killing, in fact you are rewarded quite handsomely for working together as a team. I can have a k/d ratio of 0.5 and still be the highest scorer on the team because i'm capturing points, reviving teammates, suppressing advancing enemies, or repairing vehicles
- Vehicles. MW games dont have them, but honestly, I think they are a bit over-rated in BF3. They are necessary, but I frankly hate using them except for transportation over long distances.
- And the maps are friggin huge with many more destructable environments than COD.
- More complex strategy - Working with teammates to plan the route to an objective, how you will capture the objective, and how people will support those capturing the objective.

At the end of the day, I'm kinda being funny. They are two different games that both do very well in what they are trying to accomplish. I can jump into a MW3 game and have fun. But if I'm sitting down for an extended period and playing with good friends, I much prefer Battlefield games.

I'm actually just playing a character. I really do like BF3, but I have had a struggle to get my gaming buddies to play it. For a bunch of married guys (some with kids), it is hard to get these guys all online at the same time. MW3 is a phenomenal game that allows for people to jump in and out pretty easily. At the end of the day, I am a lemming. I will play what my friends play because I'd rather talk shit about my day with a friend than a complete stranger.

The reason I keep trying to talk up BF3 is bascially just propaganda to get my friends to play it. They are both great games.

Just saw a tweet that Modern Warfare 3 sold 9.3 million copies on day one...not shipped, SOLD.

If this is true, that's insane. Just took that a giant dump on that record Black Ops set last year...

Yeah... start with MW3. You won't regret it. If you have the patience and time, then pick up BF3 too.

Just finished the campaign. Thought the ending was pretty cool, although I was left wanting more from the storyline. I won't go into too much detail here and spoil it for those who haven't finished the game, but it is pretty straightforward. The final scene is awesome.

I thought the story played out well, I just wished that that CoD games would include more missions similar to the first one in New York. It didn't advance the story but it was a solid war mission that was entertaining, there have to be millions of those type of missions that could be added to extend the length of the game...

Finished the campaign. My opinion, blah, whatever. Feels like a game I've played a few times before. That article that IMU posted (I think it's in a different, but related, thread) about FPS games pretty much sums up this game. I've been saying for years now that I feel like I'm just watching a movie and once in a while i have to press the square button to move it along. Too linear for my tastes. Although I know it won't happen, I'll have no problem if this were the last edition of the Call of Duty series.
I just bought it Saturday and didn't even bother with the multiplayer part yet. But I messed around with the spec ops stuff. The survival mode is lame, it should be more than a 2 player game to allow for some strategy. Plus, it just seemed ridiculously easy (see guy, shoot guy, next level). I looked at the spec ops mission but I only did the first mission because it was exactly the same mission as the first MW2 spec ops mission and was too annoyed to go any further.
Overall, I'd give it a C grade.

You're the opposite of me... I have to wait for them to go to bed before I can jump on... and that's like at 10:00

Now that brought back memories...hopefully the first of many PTFB sessions...

...I died 50 times in that last match.  :( ...pretty sure that hasn't happened since Shipment in CoD 4...

Good times, although I think we should stay away from Headquarters Pro for awhile.

Also, lipid needs to learn how to use the "little heliocopter thingy" killstreak.

Activision is turrible. With all their vast resources, they can't figure this out? This shouldn't even be a big deal.

Thumbs up to Activision caring about their true customer base more than the PC kids.

IMU... why do you have to be so miserable about this stuff? There are folks that are casual gamers. Folks that cannot designate entire days to video games or don't care about the more mundane details. Also, consoles are particularly useful when you've got friends on the same system. Even if I liked the PC experience better, I would rather play on an inferior system with friends than alone on the PC.

We get it... you like the PC better. Move on.
