I have no idea what IMU is arguing, but I'm enjoying the gameplay. Perhaps the changes were for the better.

I see what you did there. ;) If I only had a keyboard instead of a controller.

I'm arguing that an RPG without RPG statistics is missing something.

I'm not even arguing with you. I was simply asking what affect with those attributes actually have on the skills? They made it very clear how they impacted health, stamina and magicka, but with respect to the skills, all the game ever said was they "governed" them...whatever the hell that means.

I have nothing against complex statistic systems...but it seems like something complicated just for the sake of being complicated and not because it added any depth to the game.

You've never...like...looked it up? There are numerous sources that describe how exactly Strength effects each of its skills, how exactly Personality effects its three skills, and so on...

Not knowing something doesn't make it necessarily complicated.

It kind of makes sense that Strength would increase damage of melee weapons, and Personality would increase your character's ability to deal with NPC's, yes?

Yes, that all makes sense, but give me something more than it "governs" those skills. What does that mean? I just don't understand why they would be clear about some things in game (increasing strength increases your carrying ability) but be so vague about others.

It's all preference. I'd actually prefer not knowing. More like real life. If it's just a math equation and probabilities, the game becomes more like homework.

To hell with trying to woo your prospective mate with wine sipping excursions that you have no interest in.
Just direct her to this thread, and have her read it quietly, while you slip out of the room. Possibly return in Angora.

It worked for Ed Wood.

If only she came with a conversation wheel that I could manipulate to my advantage...

I still have Lydia...thinking of J'Zarhgo though. He is a badass.

I have Lydia as well...but she's just chilling at my house...don't want to bring her with me anywhere...can't risk her dying...it's the only woman who's committed to me in the last ten years.

Did rivers have current in Oblivion? I can't remember. Because I just watched a rabbit trying to run away from me in the river and he wasn't going anywhere...I jumped in and it damn near swept me away...awesome.

Oh shit, a dragon....fuuuuuuuu

I was wondering the same thing....they are valuable, and they aren't an "ingredient" but I have this sneaking suspicion they will have some use, so I've been hoarding them.

Is Alduin your character's name? Mine is Claypoole. He defeats foes with a six string fretless bass.

So you don't actually pick a class... you just focus on those type of attacks to become proficient in a specific skill, correct? I know some attributes come with a particularl race.

I named mine Dovahkiin...kind of a dead giveaway I'm dragonborn, but meh...

FYI, Alduin is the name of the main dragon...so yeah, having Alduin slay Alduin would be interesting.

I'm only 15. So what's with all these ingredients I'm collecting? I know I'm supposed to combine them at one of those Alchemy stations. How do I learn what to combine with what? From books?

I don't really know what I'm doing. I'm just kinda wandering and poking my head into caves and clearing them out and collecting stuff that I have no idea what to use it for. I'm completely lost with Enchanting, Alchemy, and Conjuring. I'm just burning fools and healing myself and stealing gold. Rip and Run. I'm like a medieval version of Omar from The Wire.

Explain to me the soul gems thing. So I disenchant an item and them put that "power" into the gem... and then I attach it to a weapon or something? Sorry I'm being so dense. I'm a first timer in this bizarre nerd kingdom. But I'm honestly enjoying it immensely.

Man, this is complicated for my simple console mind. ;) I guess I'll have to play with that Soul Entrapment thing. So should I assume every soul gem I find is full or empy. How can you tell if the soul gem is empty? Or does it say that it is full or empty?

How do you refill a staff? (man, that sentence is just ripe for some sexual jokes).

By the way, IMU... I really appreciate this stuff.

When up 3 levels last night... but unfortunately that means I only got 3 hours of sleep again. Painful.

I've been collecting books like a librarian, but I've only read (actually read, not just click "read")... is that a problem?

Is there anyway to differentiate between a book that gives you a skill and one that is just there for background?

I'm already bored with MW3 and my computer won't be ready to play BF3 for 2 weeks so it looks like it's off to purchase Skyrim.
