What did you want him to say? Does some crazy Mike Gundy like response help the Bears win the Super Bowl? I am tired of people acting like Lovie does not care about winning or his players because it is not Mike Ditka. You want to tell me he is not a great in-game coach, fine. But, his response to meatball issues like this have nothing to do with his ability to lead the team on Sunday.

Come on Jimmy. Lovie is 4 times the coach Jauron ever was. He does not need to show a bunch of fire and passion. The teams always plays hard for him, so obviously everything that needs to go over big in the lockeroom is getting accomplished.

Could not agree more. There is a segment of the population that has this image about what Bears coach should look like and act. Lovie does not fit this mold. Remember why people wanted Russ Grim--because he mispronounced McCaskey and because he sort of looked like Ditka. When Russ Grim gets a head coaching job let me know. It just infuriates me that people cite Lovie's lack of "fire" for reasons to not like him. If Lovie were to quit at the end of the year, he would be one of the top candidates on the market. He is not perfect, but is he a very good coach. The only thing he has not done is win a Super Bowl. Cut the guy some slack.

Do people really equate Lovie's wet noodle personality with his ability to coach? I don't. I think the point people are making is that public figures who are engaging & able to speak well in public are a lot more interesting than guys like Lovie. That's all. People who are popular are popular because of their personality. That's just the way it is.
Lovie is a decent coach, but he is a god awful orator. There isn't a person in the world who would disagree with that. I still crack up over the fact that Lovie's lone TV commercial is for Nyquil. Frankly, I'm surprised that he took that deal.

Hey,any coach who acts like he is on NYQUIL while his QB is getting pounded into the ground is either comatose or NOT a former NFL player. That reaction by him is total Bulllllshiiit!!. Don't give me this "meatball" shit either. It's just wrong,PLAIN and SIMPLE. I have no problem with Lovie or his calm demeaner 95% of the time.

The Bears were obviously already pissed at the Lions for the first game of the year. They came out and kicked the crap out of them.

I'm not sure how much it has to do with the first game of the season but I agree. The Bears were clearly just pushing the Lions around the field and even when the Lions turned dirty the Bears still kept punching them in the mouth. Lovie didn't have to do anything to provoke that, the Bears defense is second probably only to the Ravens and maybe Pittsburgh in governing themselves. And that's been slowly translating to the offense as well.

We have no idea what kind of demeanor Lovie shows in the locker room. Maybe he gets all fired up. I doubt it but
this team follows this guy into battle every week and are playing well. I'd be hesitant to question anything this
guy does. A lot of people thought this team would be sub .500. Are they? Is he boring to the general public?
Yes, but I'd rather have that than a loudmouth like Rex Ryan who can't back up anything that comes out of his
pie hole.

I disagree. I thought his decision to keep Cutler and Forte in on Sunday was really poor. There's lots of questions for what he does, probably 2 or 3 every sunday.

I know somebody said Lovie's defense will always appear gimmicky even if it's not...Not sure I agree with that either.

Spaulding, you may not like the way he is doing things but you can't argue with the results. I don't see why you don't
like what he is doing. Has he made some questionable calls and does he waste challenges occasionally? Yes, but what
coach doesn't? I personally like his easy going demeanor. He has a solid staff around him that seems to be pulling
this team into a solid unit. What does pulling your 2 best players prove during the game last week? I like that he didn't
step off the gas. It is a divisional rival and you needed to kick their asses.

The defense for keeping those guys in the game is that the Lions have already come back from down 20 to win twice this season. It's fair to question Lovie's tactics week to week but it's hard to argue he should have gotten more out of this Bears team than he has in his tenure here.
