Like it or not, she's going to do well in Nationwide. Just look how much she's improved in one partial year.

She did 13 races last year with 3 crashes and 1 top 20 (19th) - avg. finish of 28th.

This year, in 7 races, she already has 2 top 10s and a top 5. Her avg. finish is already cut to 16th.

She'll have her rough spots the first year on tracks she hasn't been to but I wouldn't put it past her to be a top 5 Nationwide driver next year.

She's actually the Venus or Serena of auto racing. Wouldn't she absolutely dominate a women's racing league?

Drive for Diversity Participant: Darrell Wallace Jr.

Darrell Wallace Jr. became the first African American and youngest driver in history to win a race in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. Darrell was also crowned rookie of the year and became the first African American to achieve the honor. Wallace, 17, who lives in Concord, N.C., started racing when he was 9 years old and has found plenty of success along the way. In 2009, Wallace was named a development driver for Joe Gibbs Racing. With support from JGR, he competed with his family operated team in a number of late-model events throughout the Southeast. He won his first late-model race at Franklin County Speedway (Callaway, Va.) in 2008, becoming the youngest driver to win a late-model race at the historic speedway, at age 14. He graduated in January from North West Cabarrus High School on the honor roll.

Based on how they drive, I have an easier time believing Darrell is his kid than I do Steven.

Lewis Hamilton is one of the top drivers in F1. He won the whole damn thing a couple years ago. He's also won a couple races on tracks that aren't used anymore, but SHARK says those don't count anymore.

I guess the hype doesn't bother me like it does SHARK, it seem to be that way in almost every sport , anyway (i.e.Rory McElroy, Steven Strassberg, etc)

I do wonder if this actually is a racing decision- as SHARK points out, Patrick has not excelled at open wheel racing, despite performing well enough to get that ride by performing in karts and Indy Lite type stuff. Perhaps she is better suited for driving the heavier, slower NASCARS.

But it probably comes down to money.

Should be fun to watch.

Brad Keselowski certainly had an interesting thought about Danny...

Brad Keselowski just had to get in his two cents following Danica Patrick’s announcement Thursday that the GoDaddy.com driver will be moving to NASCAR full time in 2012.

Taking to Twitter later Thursday, Keselowski noted that some of the best racers he competed against in quarter midgets were girls but how many weren’t able to move on to higher levels of racing.

Keselowski stated that Patrick’s “assent up the ladder of the sport thru various branding ‘techniques’ (swimsuit ads etc) only serves to undermine the…future credibility of female races who wish to make it based on skill, mental toughness and a never give up attitude. That to me is wrong. Essentially, she has opened a pandoras box for all female racers. If she doesn’t succeed, no female will get the chance for years to come.”

Many NASCAR fans are likely to agree with Keslowski’s views on Patrick. But was it really a good idea for him to put his opinions out there in such a manner?

Wow. Pretty strong words for a driver who started in the Truck series. His highest season long finish? 21st.
But he somehow got a call-up to a Nationwide Ride, by who? The same person that Danica did.

I'm not sold on her driving skills but it will be good for the sport to have another car that is fully sponsored as opposed to wheeling out yet another nobody in a start and park heap of shit. She has done a good job curtailing the whining at least from what I have heard from her this and most of last season.

Dannys real problem is that Women cant compete with Men, regardless of the sport...Golf, Basketball, Track & Field, Racing, you name it.

I've met a few that are terrific at Water Sports, but I'll leave that alone.

You & Jack Brickhouse have something in common then.

I do NOT like her. I didn't like her in Indy car racing, and I really don't like her in NASCAR.

It's weird...as a woman, I feel I should support her. But as a woman....I have this intuition thing...and I have no good feelings about her.

She's driving for Tony Stewart. Gets to work next to him everyday. Smell him on a regular basis. We know why you don't like her.

She has done a significantly better job this year of letter her driving speak and not her mouth. She has shut up for the most part and just settled in to trying to learn as much as she can about stock car racing. I fear she will regress to being a habitual whiner upon moderate success but who knows. I will be open minded for her Cup debut after seeing her put in some decent and humble work this year. She is good for the sport as she can pull a full sponsor.....something even Matt Kenseth can't do now.

Maybe it's time to put in a call to that good ol' boy in Hattiesburg, MS.

The Texans players would love this as opposed to having that tosser Matty Hottub lead the offense.

Cant wait for Danny to be causing mayhem at 200MPH at Daytona. But worse than her driving will be the non stop hype from the ESPN types about Danica this & Danica that, & all of the NASCAR drivers will be cordial & say positive things about her & her driving, even though not one of them really believes that.

Um.....she's already raced at Daytona. :? And did quite well until getting caught up in somebody else's mess on the last lap.

And you're probably right, Danica will be the first driver to ever be over-hyped by ESPN or Speed leading up to a NASCAR season.

Because Blaney finished 33rd in points last season, his car is guaranteed a starting spot in the first five races of the season. Teams can transfer or sell the points to another team, and Stewart-Haas Racing acquired them so Patrick is guaranteed to race in the Feb. 26 season opener.

TBR will field the No. 10 for David Reutimann in the 26 races that Patrick does not have on her schedule.
