Obvious troll is obvious...

...this whole thing makes me appreciate what Bungie has been doing for the last 7 years with their stat tracking...it is pretty hilarious that Activision is just getting around to doing it and that they are struggling with it.

Hopefully has absolutely NOTHING to do with this in Bungie's next game.

Bungie has only had to track statistics from one console...where they control all the servers.

It's a lot different with multiple consoles and dedicated servers.

They control all the servers? What servers?

What don't I have to explain to you?

I'm beginning to understand why you need things simple.

How do you think all of these statistics are maintained? Why do you think you have to have an XBox Live account in order to play...instead of just connecting your XBox to the IP of another XBox?

"omg dis xbox liev iz gud i can magic play w all my frends"

First off...

Dude, I understand how Xbox Live works. Take Wil Wheaton's advice for a change...don't be a dick.

But when you say they (Bungie) control all the servers, I really don't know what you are talking about. Yes, they control the servers the stats are stored on, but Activision would do the same with Elite, no? So there really isn't a difference there.

Bungie also controls the servers that would facilitate matching players up. Past that, it's out of their hands. Microsoft controls the servers for Xbox Live, and any Halo game ever played over Xbox Live has been hosted by one of the player's consoles, not a server. So I'm not sure how "they control all the servers" makes any sense in this case.

As for other business...

This will be my last post to you. You're a nice enough guy in person, but put a keyboard in front of you and you become a condescending, arrogant prick. I never understood why people could find you so frustrating and annoying, but now I'm starting to see it. I've asked you multiple questions over the past week or so and instead of answering them you have to take a cheap shot, every single time. I'm beginning to not like you because of the person you pretend to be here and I don't really want to do that, so I'm just gonna steer clear of you for a while.

Peace.

I fell asleep... waiting for my wife to go to bed. ;)

Tonight a bunch of us over at pregamelobby are going to be online. If you're interested in joining, please just send me XBL message. Good guys, but since it might be big, we'll likely have to play a private match... so no XP for you prestige whores.

Got into a Party last night with a lot of the SWS guys last night...pretty damn fun.
The GF has to work early Saturday morning, so I expect to be on around 9 or so tonight.

Getting pretty frustrated with a few of the maps on this game. Also, the killstreak options have me all sorts of confused.

It's much better than black ops IMO, I traded that garbage in after a week... this I plan on holding onto....

MW3 is substantially better than Black Ops, IMO. The only thing I miss is the ability to customize your gamer avatar/tag in multiplayer. Other than that, it is a pretty solid game.

And the only reason CoD4 or MW2 is perceived as "better" is because they came first.

It's an interesting question that could be framed in the 'chicken or the egg' template. While I agree that the maps in CoD4 and MW2 were "more fun", I don't know if that is because I just got used to playing those maps for countless hours as I was still enamored by the novelty of what I was playing.

I also think enjoying a map is dependant upon the game type you prefer.

For example, a map like Overgrown - with its wide-open layout, climbable buildings and minimal hiding spots - was perfect for sniping and games like Domination, which I love. However, maps like Showdown or Backlot left a little to be desired for that game type.

In MW3, it almost seems like the game design favors close-combat and bottleneck situations. I can only pick out one or two new maps that sniping, for example, could be effectively used.

Quick question from a Noob (that term still used?)

Anyway just got ps3. Usually just play sports games. Can I buy this game and get decent at it in a reasonalbe amount of time having virtually 0 experience with this kind of game?

That's why I always stick to Ground War, none of those close-combat maps like mission... good stuff.
As for my favorite sniping maps:
Underground
Village
Bootleg
Downturn
Interchange
Outpost
Seatown

No maps compare to District, Crash, Backlot, Ambush, Countdown, Crossfire, and Showdown...those were epic maps.

Strike was right behind it.

It was nice for MW2 to add a couple of those...but it still didn't make the selection as awesome as CoD4.

As someone who never played CoD4, in MW2, Strike was a shitty map and Crash wasn't anything special... IMO of course... give me Bailout, Highrise or Favela any day of the week over those two...

Yeah, I think anyone can be decent, you just have to learn the maps and learn the trends those maps create...

Afghan is by far my favorite map in any of the titles. And yes; I took advantage of the airplane wing/mountain hiding spot every single time.
