It's not an act. He clearly does consider religion to be an important part of his life. He is just willing to use it to make a lot of money.

I don't understand the "pick a lane" thing. I don't really care that he's making a ton of money on it. I care more that others buy into it like MOFO and don't see through it. If he truly did want to dedicate his life to spreading the word then he should quit football. I'm fine with him continuing to play and doing what he can to make money. They may seem to be different thoughts but they aren't opposite thoughts. One has to do with his fans and one has to do with his true motivations.

whether that be true or not, and i acknowledge it could be since i certainly don't know the guy any more than what i see on TV as with everyone else on here, all i am pointing out is that his actions and words have made me reflect on my Christianity and I don't think that is a bad thing. I'm not wrapped up in the career of Tim Tebow, but do I think what he is doing is pretty cool.

If it takes the words and actions of Tim Tebow to make you reflect on your own Christianity, you're doing it wrong.

I never said i was a great Christian, so i am sure there are 1,000 things a day i do wrong, so when i see someone who displays a lot of devotion in a way that I never have certainly it makes me reflect. When i read newspaper stories or watch the news or see things in everyday life that affect me, it all causes me to reflect. I would counter that anyone who doesn't reflect on themselves or their faith every day isn't doing it right.

And I would point out you specifically mentioned reflecting on your Christianity because of Tim Tebow.

If you need an athlete to make you reflect on your Christianity, you're not a good Christian.

well, i repeat that i have never claimed to be a stellar example of Christianity, but I am unsure how how this makes me a bad Christian. If my Pastor or a neighbor or a person I don't know on the street or even a professional athlete speaks about Jesus Christ and I listen and maybe glean something from it, that makes me a bad Christian?

Reggie White (as a "minister") wasn't nearly as annoying as Tebow. If you remember, there was a sizeable (negative) discussion about the prayer circles that White and others held after games. It wasn't then as big a deal since White's charades included many other players who wanted a little of the Lord's 'shine' upon them all...not just for one self aggrandizing s.o.b.. Well, that and the fact mentioned above, that White may have actually been the best player in football at the time....with actual discernable talent.

But many, especially Bear fans (& Score hosts) were all over White at the time.
