Holy cow... Northwestern is 16.5 point favorites over Minnesota. Kill has these guys playing much better ball. I would take the points all day long. Besides Fitz will crap away a lead in order to run out the clock. He goes into his turtle shell once we get a 14 point lead.

For your Big 10 title game, it will be Michigan State vs the winner of Wisconsin-Penn State, I think if your the Big 10, you want Wisconsin-Michigan State, not that a fix is in like was put in another thread, but you have Penn State people saying if they win the title game, there putting a post it on with the name Paterno.

Also if you get Michigan State-Wisconsin, I would say they had the Big 10 game of the year, so we will see those highlights all week, so should be exciting.

Well, I was at Memorial Stadium yesterday. Fucking cold and windy. It was about half full before kickoff and I'd say there was a max of 45k there. This was my first trip to the stadium since 2006 so it was nice to see most of the new renovations. However, I don't understand moving the student section to the north end zone. If the opponent is near the south end zone how does all that noise and energy from the opposite end of the field come in to play? First half domination gave way to second half fuckuppery. I was waiting for Zook's big changes that he claimed were coming this week. I suppose it was O'Toole playing more than Scheelhaase and Petrino being on the sidelines? I wonder if any team has ever started 6-0 and finished 6-7.

I have a question about Minnesota Football, I seen on ESPN that Kill had another seizure on the plane from Chicago, and that he was back to work.

I think this is like his 3rd or 4th this season, I know you want a Big 10 job, but should Kill leave to get his health fixed if it can be or Minnesota just let him go for his health.

He's had these seizures for awhile. I've read that they are more embarrassing than a real risk of permanent injury. They are brought on by stress, but I think it would be odd to fire him for this... at minimum, Minnesota was aware of these health issues, so I doubt they could void a contract. I truly like Jerry Kill and think he is good for the conference.

I think Kill can help Minnesota, just wondering about his health.

Iowa and Nebraska kick off in about an hour and half, Taylor Martinez can barely pass, Iowa stops the run, can be a winnable game.

Wow 20 yds of offense for Illinois in the first half vs. Minnesota

Getting hammered at the half.

Minnesota is just bullying Illinois now. 27-0.

Gotta root for Indiana over Purdue. This would likely force Northwestern or Illinois to Detroit. Maybe they arrange for NIU to get into that game even though GoDaddy has #1 MAC pick this year.

I know they have 6 wins, but a team that goes 0-6 to end the season should not get a bowl bid.

Won't stop Illinois from getting invited. I think Illinois will declines though. They have nothing to play for and their season has been pretty demoralizing. Their players look like they quit, their fan base would not travel to a bowl, and they likely would be using an interim coach just to finish out.

Illinois will not get a bowl and they don't deserve one either. Just pathetic.

If Illinois doesn't hire Mike Leach they will miss a once in a lifetime chance to hire an offensive genius who can save the Illinois football program & return them to prominence.
NIU shouldn't have the best football program in the state, but they do.
Its just a shame what has happened to Illinois.

Do you think Leach would take the Illinois job though?

I think anyone looking to Leach to be the savior of Illinois football is going to be disappointed. First, I am not sure he would even take the job. Second, he only had one really good year at Tech, and even in that year he lost the bowl game. Usually they were 3rd or 4th not in the Big 12, but in their division of the Big 12. I don't think his offense is as good as many think and defenses around the country have caught up to it, so it is nothing really special any more.

Reports are Washington State is firing their coach and Leach is their number 1 pick.

That's what I was thinking as well. Illinois needs him more than he needs Illinois.

Just to bring a counter argument, then why has it taken leach so long to get another job if he doesn't 'need' the job? I think Leach is an awesome fit, and I hope he keeps the Petrino brother as an offensive coach...

I mean because he's been mentioned as a candidate for other jobs this year.

He'd be good for Illinois.

If LSU wins and the Big 10 title game loser, should move Michigan into the top 14 and make a BCS Bowl, possibly Sugar and against Houston.

Here are Mike Leach's accomplishments at Texas Tech from 2000 - 2009.
In 10 seasons Leach had a winning record in every season, winning 8 games or more in 8 seasons, & with an overall record of 84-43.
I'm not sure what the Leach nay-sayers are expecting, but it certainly cant be better results than Leach's at Texas Tech.
If the U of I doesn't hire Leach, they will probably settle for a safe hire & the Illinois football program will struggle big time in the coming years.

To add what Leach did for Texas Tech, Tuberville in his 2nd year, not going to a bowl game, after a trip to the Ticket City bowl.

Checking out some bowl projections, could have an intresting Gator Bowl, with Ohio State vs Florida.

Does Ferentz purposely take on kids with character issues for the sake of winning or does he just have no clue? Seems like every month i'm readying about another Iowa player getting in trouble.

No, he actually doesn't seek out those kids. For instance, Coker was a honor student from DeMatha in DC. It just happens, unfortunately, seems to be more than normal at Iowa.

HV,
Can you update me on what the reason for his dismissal is? I maintain that a lot of the same problems exist with other schools... just that Ferentz doesn't put up with that stuff. Somehow people interpret it as a negative about the program. But really its that they are actually disciplining the offender as opposed to letting it slide under the carpet. Do you agree, HV?
