Afghan is by far my favorite map in any of the titles. And yes; I took advantage of the airplane wing/mountain hiding spot every single time.

Wasn't much of a hiding spot after the first 2 weeks. :)

Afghan was okay...but again...Chopper Gunner to Nuke...

The Nuke killstreak was probably the worst video game idea in a long time. The MAOD in MW3 is much more fun.

Favela was one of the best 'MW2' maps...I'd say Derail and Sub Base were 2 and 3.

The issue with Highrise was it was terrible for Domination or Capture The Flag. Many rounds became lock down fests...and usually resulted in my team spawn camping the other team...even when not really trying. A Chopper Gunner to Nuke combo occurred more times than not...because of the way the spawns worked in tandem with the Chopper Gunner route. It got ugly.

Bailout was fantastic, but it was a DLC map. I was trying to refer to the original maps for each entry. I did enjoy most of the MW2 DLC maps...they were much more balanced for all game modes.

Crash and Strike were excellent maps in terms of both run and gun gameplay, Domination / CTF, and sniping / camping. They catered to all different play types.

That's interesting, I never liked Derail... too snipy for my tastes... and I luv sniping; Sub Base was also one of my favorites...

The Chopper gunner to nuke thing was just a large problem overall in the game, it should have been one or the other, not both... never was a fan (only got it once) but if I remember correctly from your gamer tag, I'm pretty certain you took full advantage of that combo 8)

Skidrow was always the easiest for me. All you had to do was patrol the connected corridors that ran from the building by C all the way to the opposite spawn. Just throw down a couple claymores in the alley and building steps, keep an eye on the lower building with the tarp ceiling and you were all set.

Yeah, I think anyone can be decent, you just have to learn the maps and learn the trends those maps create...

Thanks but the last 10 posts are so have convinced me to stick to my sports game realm.

Estate was easily the worst map in MW2, and it reminds me a lot of Resistance in MW3.

I also hated Derail.

Karachi eventually became one of my favorites, but I was only effective when I had claymores and Scavanger. And yes, I camped like a little bitch on that map.

 Damn, sorry about that, it's a fun game, and one you don't have to take seriously to enjoy... if you play it as much as I do, you just naturally figure all this stuff we've been talking about here... hell, crazy ivan has been known to throw down so how hard could it be... just look at it like that

The problem that I had with Estate was that I could never see anybody... it was hell most of the time. And that's probably the greatest thing about MW3, the about of tubing has dramatically decreased in my experience, it's almost non existent when I'm playing.

I was waiting to see how long it would take you to turn the subject back to Battlefield... and RPB, you'd fit in a lot better with a game like MW then a game like Battlefield...

Still think Black Ops system of paying for perks and weapons is better. Also I like the maps better (gulp... Treyarch out Infity Warded Infinity Ward). Zombies ain't generally my thing, but that game was very cool. Matchmaking also seems a bit smoother.

But again... I have to agree with IMU, BF3 blows them both away.

 Oh, I get what you are coming from. My first multiplayer shooter game was on the Wii  ... I had always played the story mode and never the MP so I just jumped in.

It's all maps, about 10-15 with several different game modes for each one. Most people just play the team death match mode where all you do is kill people from the other team. The people who you need to kill will have their names over their head in red, you're teammates will have their names in green. When you get killed you re-spawn in a safe place(theoretically) and you can die as many times as you want and you can't kill your teammates, no matter how hard you sometimes try. Every kill you get is 100 points. the first team to 7500 wins. As you get more points, you level up, when you level up you get more guns and weapons to choose from. In the beginning you don't pick your weapons, you get three classes to select from. To join a game all you do is going into multiplayer mode, select the mode you want to play(team death match) and you will be automatically joined into a lobby or a game, easy stuff. That's all you need to know to play the game.

I'm with you, IMU. But I'd rather play TDM than play Domination with a bunch of guys too worried about their K/D ratio to attempt to capture point A, B, or C. Nothing more frustrating than that and its the main reason why my K/D ratio sucks so much... I don't give a shit about it.

You know what I truly miss about Black Ops? The ability to add truly offensive avatar images.

Since we are talking about other games in this thread, and the topic of offensive images came up, nothing tops Halo in that regard....13 year olds making various offensive things with the different symbol and background combinations.

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Search and Destroy...something about the pressure of only getting one life per round that makes it that much better...

...and one of the reasons the new games are better than COD4...because people with 3 frags in S&D lobbing them everywhere at the start of the round and getting kills was lame...

Got it.

I've been playing through the campaing this weekend. Really good, so far.

I've only played online once so far. Where is this "Kill Confirmed" thing I kept hearing about?

I was straight killin fools just as I normally do on CoD and didn't see any dog tags or anything...

It's a game mode called "Kill Confirmed". You might have to unlock the mode in a later level.

The dog tags float above the dead body. Yellow tags for kills for your team, red tags for team mates that have been killed. Points are score (or protected) by gathering these tags.

Still a bit fun but I'm losing interest.

I'm really not a big fan of the maps at all, although some are growing on me. My interest level in the game has been declining ever so steadily since MW2 and this current incarnation isn't doing much to keep me playing but I have a group of about 6-8 people that play most nights so that increases the fun.

-Can't stand the snipers in every single fucking map.
-Shotguns are over powered and the range is to much as well....or maybe it's just the range. Jump, jump fire fire.
-Maps aren't that good, maybe I'm missing something but MW1 and even some on Black Ops were better.
-Love Survivor mode.
-Spec Ops is fun but you need to be in a different mindset to play it.
-"New" perks are alright. But again, more of the same with some tweaks but that's ok.
-Still love Headquarters to death, Love Domination etc.
-The story is retarded and not very interesting and it doesn't make a lot of sense. The WWII CoD's were infinitely better and I enjoy the larger scope of those games. I get what age group this is aimed and it is the console market but whatever.
-The Single player really isn't a "game" or whatnot...you pretty much follow someone around, shoot at some people, something explodes, hold X in front of a door when someone says too and move on. You do this for 3 hours. It's like one giant long quick-time event.
-The AC-130 level was pretty cool, I liked going back and forth....nice touch. But again, a rehash.
-They called the New York airstrike in using F-22 Raptors when in-game they were clearly F-15E Strike Eagles.

I get that they don't want to rock the boat, blah blah blah...but this will probably be the last CoD game of this nature that I purchase unless something big happens...but that probably won't seeing as Activision will do what they have done in the past....milk the franchise to death and then bury it.

For me, games of this genre only become fun when I can rack up kills with regularity (duh, I know). I enjoy using exploits in the maps to achieve this goal.

With that being said, accessing certain hiding spots via strafe jumping and whatnot makes the game enjoyable, but it also says a lot; if exploits have to be used for me to enjoy myself, then perhaps the maps/gameplay itself has gotten stale.

IMO, this holds true for any shooter.
