Former Mike North/WSCR-AM/CSN producer Jen Patterson! This week, the longtime Chicago media personality, who now lives in Arizona, announced her engagement to her boyfriend, former Chicago Blackhawks player, Nick Boynton.

North will be calling her soon, to either borrow some money or get them to invest in some scam he has.

I'd give her a 6.5, maybe a 7.

Double congrats are in order for Jen Jen. Not only is she getting married, but she's now a step mommy of two kids.

1. Knowing Mike North paid off for her in the end. Got her a hockey player to marry. Without knowing North this doesn't happen. That can't be disputed.

2. Now that she's marrying him, it was worth getting fired over him.

3. When they get in an arguement she's gonna use the "I got fired for you" and "You ruined my broadcasting career" on him. You know it.

4. He's close to being out of the NHL. Seems like a journeymen with no more than 2 years left, tops, from what I gather. It's cool to be married to a hockey player. It's not cool once he's out and he's just a dirty ex hockey player. If she's with him a year after he's out of the NHL, then I'll say this marriage will last forever.

Good for her. She got her bag of "gold" after she was jettisoned from show after show.

Persistence pays off in her case. Although I wonder how many trains got plowed into her bun cake after Blackhawks games. Probably more than a few times

Hey, is Boynton in the NHL right now? I looked up his career stats and it only goes to last year. No numbers for this year. Is he in the minors some where?

Let's be honest, she didn't marry him for his looks.

I wonder if he made her sign a prenup. C'mon, he's paying alimony and child support for 2 kids from the first marriage. If that doesn't teach you a lesson, nothing will. He's making a decent living as a journeyman hockey player, but he probably lives a hockey style life of drugs, booze, gambling and women. He's not making super star money. Once retired, he'll still want the drugs, booze, gambling and women without the 500k a year. Also, once he no longer has hockey he will fall into a state of depression and hit these vices harder because of it. This story has been the case for so many athletes.

I wish them well, I just think this will go bad.

Man, BD, you live in fantasy land!
If you were as important as you think you are, someone would be suing your sorry ass.

That sounds libelous to me. How can you accuse someone you don't know for crap like this?

Oh boy!
You know what they say when they argue and what will happen to their future relationship.
You are a real piece of work.

If it makes you feel any better, I predict bad things for myself as well. I once had a girlfriend that I told how and why she would dump me when we first started dating. I ended up being exactly right. She dumped my ass!!!! So take that. :P I win. Wait a minute...

He is out of the NHL. Hawks waived him midway through last year, he finished out the year with the Flyers, wasn't signed by anyone. I suppose someone could sign him, but why? He sucked.

For whatever it's worth, Boynton is diabetic, so I don't imagine he does a lot of hard living. Though if he does, it would explain why he was such a shit sandwich with the Hawks last year.

Boynton was far better compensated than a 500k a season player for much of his NHL career. For 3 years, he made 2.95M a season, and had multiple seasons where he made over 1.5M each. He's reportedly made in his NHL career $14,500,000.00. Now I don't know how he handled his finances, or how much his divorce and kids cost him, but if he had any sense at all, he probably knew he was overpaid and his career was winding down, so perhaps he planned accordingly with the money he had. Or maybe not. Who knows....

Ok. I didn't know that. I remember people saying he was a minimum wage guy in the NHL. In that case, way to go Jen Jen!!!!

He had to have made her sign a prenup. That doesn't mean she can't try to spend it while she's married. Jen Jen just became the Be Be North of the desert.
