So the Bears are exactly where they were before they kicked off today. In the playoffs as the 5th seed.

Don't get me wrong, this was a crushing loss for the Bears. You can't lose a home game to the Chiefs with their no name QB. If we just miss the playoffs, this will be the game I'll look at.

Still, their is hope. Keep in mind, the Giants still play the Cowboys twice. The Lions look bad and are in a free fall. Falcons don't look good either.

The one thing the Bears have over all of these contenders is a good defense. I'm still banking on Cutler coming back for that last game vs the Vikings. I think that game will be a win and you're in for the Bears.

I still see Bears wins vs the Broncos, Seahawks and Vikings.

the broncos look like they can more than handle the bears. they have no QB or RB now. doesn't matter how "good" their defense is; they can't put points on the board.

These were expected losses for those teams but an expected win for the Bears. They lost ground today

I guess you could say that, but, with every one of the contenders losing, it looks now like 9-7 will get you in, rather than having to go 10-6.

Bears can still beat Denver, I don't care how it looks today. It's the NFL. Denver isn't truly a good team. Their D might be decent but they lost Von Miller.

Here's the thing. People expected the Bears to beat KC by a score of something like 20-3. Key plays in the game:

Gould misses makeable FG (-3)
Fluke-ish Hail-Mary TD by KC (+7)
Barber TD called back due to procedure (-7)
Williams drops TD in his breadbasket (-7)

I know this is Wanny logic, but those four plays change a 20-3 win to the 10-3 loss we saw.

It's not inconceivable that plays like those could go the other way or be mitigated next week. The Bears won't play a great game on offense by any means, but, we could still see the same kind of ugly win in Denver that was originally expected.
