Skill giving books are usually more valuable...your average run of the mill book is usually only worth 5-7 septims...

My current computer is my mothers old computer from around 2004-5 or so, so with that...

Upgrading from: 3 Gigs of PC5400 DDR2 memory ---->8 Gigs of PC6400 DDR mem. (Upgraded Windows 7 32bit to 64bit version which took some canoodling.)
Nvidia 8800 GT 256MB+use of main memory ------>PowerColor AMD/ATI Radeon 6850 w/ 1 Gig DDR5 and the coveted 256bit bus and a new 500watt power source. The mobo only supports PCI Express 16x so I won't be able to fully take adv. of the 6850 but the price was so very right so...oh well.

My processor is an older Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHZ, and of course this computer is a fucking Gateway so I can't overclock the SOB....which you can do easily and safely on a non-oem BIOS/MB. This will suck when my computer bottlenecks but I'm not expecting miracles just a solid upgrade for some relatively older games like World in Conflict, Supreme Commander etc.

Especially with a long weekend coming up, it seems like a perfect time to ignore my family and friends for a while.

Wait, do I need to get this game for my PC? I was just planning on getting it for XBox.

Skyrim is very CPU dependent, but I'm not sure if you're getting it for PC or XBox based on your earlier post. There were some charts on Kotaku...benchmarking how it runs (with high to super high settings), and a lot of the processing is handled by the CPU...which is surprising.

That's probably why it runs so well though.

Your new build should take care of Battlefield 3 just fine. It sounds like your end result will be near my current build in terms of performance... less good on the CPU portion but better with memory and similar in GPU processing, especially if you run a lower than 1920 x 1200 (or 1080) resolution.

Yeah, it's kinda what I'm stuck with for at least another year, again, besides BF3 (Skyrim for Xbox360) I will be playing some older games on it. I really wish I didn't have an OEM Mobo and Bios, the Core 2 line of processors are super easy to OC and quite stable at the upper reaches.....any ideas outside of a new mobo?

Oh well, I'm currently hooked on the crack rock that is Supreme Ruler 2020 so I have some time before I take over the world and need another game.

It's fine on the 360... as far as I'm concerned. One thing I thought was funny. This ridiculously long game with a gagillion hours of gameplay came on one disc. Yet Rage, the incredibly short, kinda meh game (at least compared to Skyrim), took up three discs. Something ain't right here. ;)

Cyrodil and Morrowind, as well as a few other areas, are low-res rendered in Skyrim. They are accessible with no-clipping enabled...a huge hint that there will be DLC bringing you to those places. If that is truly the case, how fucking badass is that?

Obviously it would have to be fully rendered...and it would cost more than your average DLC...but I'd totally do it.

That would be badass, the cool thing is that (at least I think I read) that you will be able to transfer your character/game from Xbox360 over to the PC, not to shabby.

Oh, I def. ordered the Morrowind collector set or whatever it is for the P.C., slap some mods on that and off you go!

I love Amazon, I have about 15 games on my wishlist and the total is about 100 bucks or so.

Every companion I have has met an untimely demise. I'm going for a killshot on an enemy... and my companion takes that moment to walk right in front of me. I put her down with one shot.

By the way, I love the hilarious glitches. Kinda makes it amusing to me.

She was already pretty damaged by the time she walked in front of my bow. She deserved to die... dumbass bitch. ;)

Also in terms of the glitches, do you have a favorite one? My favorite was I was walking along and a mamoth literally just dropped out of the sky and died. It was raining mamoths. No joke ;)

I looked on youtube... apparently I'm not the only one with Cloudy with a Chance of Mammoths

Purchased last night/this morning. My wife got it at target during the Black Friday sale. It was supposed to be a christmas gift but I saw it in the bag and told her I am not waiting a month to play. Should get started later today. 8)

Jumped on the bandwagon. Like most games I can't figure out what class I want to be. Have about 10 hours in on a mage and 5 on a warrior and want to start a thief now.

Mage is way OP once you get stun locks on dual casting...so OP it kind of makes it unfun because of how easy it is.

I'm going to complete my Breton Mage / good guy / Stormcloak play through before I create a Khajit / Thief / bad guy / Imperial play through.

I think I needed to work on a second tree on my mage. All destruction dual casting is awesome but I need a back up.

I havent played any games in a long time and this one is bringing me back. A couple of questions if you guys can help...

Do you have to sleep?

Do I have to follow the main quest or can I just roam around and do whatever I want?
I got to the quest where you have to sneak thru the embassy and I suck at sneaking so I just said fuck it and started to do some of the random quests I had picked up along the way.

You don't have to sleep...I've probably slept three or four times in my entire playthrough thus far...

...you also don't have to do the main quest...as I'm sure you've found out already, there is plenty to do in the game without ever touching the main quest.

Picked this up yesterday for PC, only played through the intro to first town so far. I had a real hard time with the controls until I realized I could zoom out to 3/4 over the shoulder view. Combat seems a bit sluggish but part of that could be because I was in 1st Person mode and couldn't see shit. I didn't look for it yet but is there an auto camera setting? Having to maneuver the camera while WASD and still trying to target with the mouse is not real intuitive. Graphics look great and I am looking forward to diving into this for a couple weeks.

I struggle with that - I get motion sickness. That's why I can't play FPS games. I'm old.

I fight in first person mode but when I am running around from place to place I toggle over to third person.

It's official. Skyrim is the greatest thing ever.

http://mmomfg.com/2011/11/30/skyrim-famitsu-perfect-score-1130/

First Western game to ever get a 40 from Famitsu...and a Western RPG, to boot.

I know I am going to get nerd raged on here, but I am not seeing what everyone else is seeing in this game.

Let me start by saying that I played Oblivion on PS3 and this is the first non MMO RPG I have played on PC in 7 or 8 years. I find the PC controls to be horrid for this game. The console version is much more intuitive. Targetting is borderline impossible since the mouse is tethered to camera angle. Why its not point and click is beyond me.

My current character is a Nord warrior and I have been using 2 handed weapons. Combat seems very clunky and normally I can one or two shot mobs, but if it goes longer than that it gets difficult to turn and target and get another swing in. Fighting that first dragon? Forget it, impossible. Can't even get close to it without getting charred. By the time the thing lands I have no chance of running to it without being barbequed. Maybe I am too low level? I was level 4 when I last tried, now up to level 6.

Dungeons are very cool and amazingly detailed, but hardly any mobs? I think I have gotten more xp from reading books and discovering places than actual combat. I know I am still low level so hopefully this changes.

Quests and NPC interaction is tedious. Let me read what you have to say so I can click past alot of nonsense and there are so many conversation options with each NPC that it can take 5-10 min just to get a quest.

Menu interactions are very clunky also. Having to use arrow keys all the time instead of just clicking on the option I want with the mouse is annoying.

I have put in about 12 hours and I like it enough to keep going, but some very annoying aspects of it make me wonder if I shouldn't be playing the console version instead to find it more enjoyable.

Its a good game but I don't see it as a 10/10 game - at least for the PC.

After playing Morrowind and Oblivion on PC I find the game much more enjoyable using a controller on PS3. Too bad the PS3 version is worse than the 360 version.

I can't say much about the difference on the controls, but when you are playing this game for hours, I like laying on the couch better than sitting up at my computer screen. In that way, it's kinda better to have the controller than the keyboard and mouse. But I don't doubt that if you're wide awake and don't mind sitting up, the keyboard is prolly better.

Got my armor and restore up a bit. Just letting wolves attack me and just heal myself. I'm only level 23, but I have about a 65 Destruction.

This game might be the best game I've ever played. And I'm more of a multiplayer fan.

Are any of you console players experiencing this "lag" issue that IGN says to be the case when people have large file saves?

I know a couple people playing Skyrim on console, both PS3 and XBox, and neither has claimed to have an issue. Amongst my friends playing on PC, no one has had the issue either.

While I believe many of these bugs exist, I know no one that is actually experiencing the bad ones. Are these rare?

On the PS3 it was a big enough problem that Bethesda had to release an emergency patch.

I had it for the first time last night. So to fix it, I should delete some of my saves?

Interesting. I fast traveled and it cleared it up. But every time I go back to a certain location. I go near a Dragon and it won't attack me. It flies around and I can't kill it even from afar. It's getting a little annoying. It's only around one particular area. But it's an area with a lot of stuff in it. Looks very graphically intensive.

I've heard the 60hrs number but I believe I also heard that the file itself gets to be larger than 5-6 megabytes and then shit starts hitting the fan.

But we all knew this was going to happen once Besthesda had to start catering to the PS3/Crash Bandicoot crowd.

It still stutters a bit in towns after the patch. Stupid memory leak. My biggest problem so far is hard lock ups
