ARKADEN-I'm a sucker for indoor/outdor urban fun

RESISTANCE-Good flow

BOOTLEG-Most people don't seem to like this one, but I enjoy the quick pace and lack of lanes one can use.

FALLEN-Nice mix between sniping/run+gun, and close quarters, probably my favorite among the bunch

OUTPOST-Action is again spread out well. B can be a congested kill zone in most domination games, but you can overcome it with team work

UNDERGROUND-Plentiful lanes, action is spread out, works well with all classes

DOME-close quarters but sectioned off so you don't die right away... only 10 seconds later...



Bad


DOWNTURN-Too much craziness

VILLAGE-Large map with only one small section used to actually fight.

MISSION I'm just not a big fan of small maps

BAKAARA-While I do well in this mode, the center of the map is rendered a death zone with all the sniping and lack of cover.

SEATOWN-too much camping around/near the center/B


Ugly


INTERCHANGE-All sniping all the time, too much power towards that class

HARDHAt-That map just sucks... I don't know why, it just does, and I don't like it..

LOCKDOWN-I've only played this map once... no thoughts




My initial reaction after a few prestige's:

Not as good as MW2, actually not really even close in my opinion, but they are still fun, and better than black ops. All the classes in my arsenal are used interchangeably sans the shotguns... just can't do it, can't win with them.

Two-day MW3 binge starts for me tonight. Look me up.

Anyone else noticing that the difference between what you see the moments before you get killed and what the kill cam shows seems to be off? I've never noticed this big of a difference in past CoD games. As much as I want to be a pro-IW/anti-Treyarch guy... I actually think Black Ops was a better game. It was essentially MW2 without all the crazy glitches.

I've honestly noticed it in every CoD title. Like a lag between when you die and when the replay says you "die". Pretty normal from my experience.

Also, the new community match list Drop Zone option is absolutely fantastic. Best idea they've had in a long time.

Has anyone sprung for the Elite service? Is it worth it? Are there any added benefits?

I'm off work for a month, had my ACL surgically repaired last week and when I'm feeling up to it, I've been getting on and playing a little. I'm usually playing either Mercenary (Deathmatch or Kill Confirmed) or Team DeathMatch. I'm wildly inconsistent at this point, I either have a decent outing (12-12 k/d) or will just get slaughtered and get killed every time I spawn. I've had several 3-14 experiences that I can't totally blame on the Oxy.

The only benefit the Elite service would have is if you played with a regular group of people, or clan, and you wanted to compare stats against each other.

But since none of us have any friends, I would save the money.

Well, I received Battlefield 3 for Christmas and I gotta say that it blows MW3 out of the water. I still play bc all of my friends keep buying it but the differences are stark.

MW3 in comparison to BF3, for me at least, is partially broken and a cynical map pack release for 60 bucks.
1.)Shotguns are way over powered, need almost no aiming, their range is way too far...and it's worse with the upgrades.
2.)Sniper rifles. Over powered, require little actual aiming and can almost be used as an assault rifle. Bad.
3.)Bad maps. There are some quality ones but most are corridors and the layout is simply "Spawn, run fast, shoot, die. Repeat" In my eyes the maps do not lend themselves to team play at all. There can be some strategic set up but most of them are just run,shoot,die.
4.)Spawning right by, and sometimes in front of, an enemy. This happens far too much.
5.)The constant spamming of choppers, bombers, emp's etc. Not as bad as MW2 but still annoying as fuck. Although they did give the Stinger missile some real bite which makes it one of the parts of the game that has actual balance.
6.)The game just feels old and outdated.

With my friends the game is fun but I never play it online by myself anymore. I can say with confidence that this will be the final MW game that I purchase. This one was totally mailed in. Bad single player game which was pretty much following the guy in front of you, opening a door and doing a giant quick time event. In BF3 the story wasn't great but it was at least quasi-believable with action that I felt that I was actually participating in. And the MP with BF3 is outstanding, even if it is a tad watered down from BF2. More depth, more teamwork, better maps (Esp. with Karkand/Wake) and more skill required.

MW3 has some charm to it but it is now outclassed. The cynical nature with which it was made and released points to a bad future and stark decline/milking of this franchise...it will most likely take its rightful place next to Guitar Hero and any other once proud franchise that Activision sucked dry and left for dead.

I find it kind of sad, actually. I haven't played MW3 in probably three weeks.
