So, last night, Purdue was playing Eastern Western Carolina, and not only did Purdue fail to show up in the first half, but the Big Ten Network video feed failed to show up for the final 30 minutes of the game. It was so bad that the "Technical difficulties" message was quickly replaced with a replay of "Big Ten Icons". Now, I know that things happen. For all I know, the truck they had to broadcast the game was crushed by a meteor or something.

However, it uncovered one problem. When this happens with ESPN, or Fox, or somewhere else, they have a backup line that feeds the announcer audio doing play by play. This did not happen. The reasoning seems to be that the Big Ten Network doesn't always send announcers to the game and seemingly have announcers watching the broadcast and doing the commentary from a studio. This is why they could not do that because even they had no way of knowing what was going on. This is unacceptable for a network like this that is making as much money as it is. I understand if women's volleyball or wrestling had this happen because that's just filler. College basketball basketball is what really sells the Big Ten Network because the good games actually show up on here rather than the leftovers like it does in football. I know that this game wasn't marquee but pay for the car service to drive the 3 hours from Chicago to the game for the announcers.

This is not the type of service that DAC pays for!

The truck caught on fire and they had not paid their service fee.

Thanks for not going with the "It's Purdue basketball, they assumed no one was watching".
