Thank you.

The whole premise of the first game of the Bulls' second NBA Finals was Jordan vs. Drexler, because most people agreed that Drexler was the better scorer.

Jordan obviously proved him wrong that game, but the initial belief was still there.

Rondo does not have a jumper now, Steve Blake does. Who's better?

True, but Rondo's job isn't to score. It's to be the floor-general.

Jordan's job was to score points. Not having a reliable jumpshot till 1988 hindered him a bit.

I understand they had Clyde but they still made a massive mistake it thinking that Bowie was more valuable than Jordan. They clearly missed on Bowie because they also passed on Barkley.

It's all hindsight but there really is no way that you can justify what Portland did that year.

Yeah but at many points in his life Clyde was probably better than Pippen.

Pippen was not a touted prodigy. He was raw. It's amazing how Scottie went from this raw, spastic, energetic stick figure, to being a top-ten player in NBA history.

Whoa that thing bruh.

Top 20-30. Kobe and Duncan are in the 5-10 range. Pippen wasn't quite at their level.

Jordan outscored him by 5 ppg the previous 5 years.

Maybe some bullshit media hype, but no basketball mind thought Drexler was better at anything.

It didn't seem to hinder him in 1986 when he dropped 63 on one of the best teams of all time and Larry Bird called him God.

If you're putting Scottie in the top 20 to 30 in NBA history, you're severely underrating him. And I thought you were always on my side in the Scottie thing.

I have Pip around #20. I think that does put me on your side vs the majority. Hell, JORR basically thinks he's a glorified Shane Battier.

Do you think he was better than Kobe or Duncan? If so, that's where we part ways my friend.

They ran the story in Sports Illustrated in 1992, trying to hype it up like a Bird/Magic rivalry. If I remember correctly, even Drexler was quoted as saying he was a stronger scorer.

In fact, that was the "Shrug" game where Jordan hit 6 three's in the first half. Earlier Drexler and others had mentioned that Clyde was the better 3-point shooter. Jordan decided to show that wasn't the case.

Pineapples! I don't know of anyone who thought Drexler was a better scorer at anytime in his career. That's just wrong.

Freddie Mitchell thought he was a better wide receiver than Randy Moss. It didn't make it a reasonable debate to engage in.

He only averaged a combined 36 points a game the 2 seasons before he got that jump shot. In fact he never came close to averaging more.

All I'm saying is that the debate existed. Obviously those of us in Chicago thought it was bullshit. But it wasn't like it was an obscure article in a local Portland newsletter or something. It ran in Sports Illustrated and was even covered by Ahmad Rashad during the telecast.

The two teams appeared headed to face each other for most of the season and comparisons were made between Clyde Drexler and Michael Jordan throughout the season. A month earlier Sports Illustrated had even listed Drexler as Jordan's "No. 1 rival" on a cover the two appeared on together before the playoffs. The media, hoping to recreate a Magic Johnson-Larry Bird type rivalry in Jordan-Drexler, compared the two throughout the pre-Finals hype

Well, a John Salmons to hall of fame debate has existed too.

Doesn't mean it had merit.

Around that time Jordan was getting cut from his HS team. The seeds were planted then.

Jordan would have been the shooting guard and Drexler the small forward.
