Uh oh, sinicalypse is also going to call you a burrito.

I have your back.

Meh...I'd have to read one of his manifestos to care.

Hmmm, good call. I haven't listened to Neon Bible in a while. I'll drop that in next. Thanks Boyd.

Who would you compare them to if you were trying to describe them?

Bez should flow over those beats....

I do like that album but it gets a little repetitive....the beats are good but need some rapping over them. Doesn't really work for me as a strictly instrumental album.

Good hip hop instrumentals never get repetitive to me. I can see what you're saying, though.

Well there has to be a little more variation to me....Pete Rock's beats for the most part are more minimalistic...I think that definitely works when there's rapping over it. But if it's going to be an instrumental album I need some more scratching, samples, etc....something to switch things up a little

Makes sense. He does have a few beats on there with some variety, though.

What would you consider to be the best instruments (hip hop) album out there?

Guitars and pianos in. MIDI, 808's, and FruityLoopz out.

So tell me genius, why is a button that simulates a piano an instrument but a button that simulates a drum not an instrument? What's the difference?

also somewhat ironic seeing as the stuff IMU posts here that he listens to is some of the least-organic/heavily processed music there is

Most people who aren't idiots would define an instrument as an object whose purpose is creating sounds.
Therefore, a washboard could be something you use for laundry, or it could be an instrument.

For the first time in recorded history, a musical pioneer (IMU) declares that if something requires electricity it is not an instrument. Sensing the major flaw in his theory (that just about every modern instrument requires electricity in one way or another), he excludes electric guitars and pianos. However, he missed the fact that an electric piano is little more than a keyboard that simulates a sound, exactly like a MIDI drum machine. The drum machine is NOT an instrument, but the electric piano is... for what reason we don't know, and likely IMU doesn't either.

Is the electric piano ONLY an instrument when simulating a piano? Most have thousands of sounds. Most have settings that allow the piano to make drum sounds. So... it is an instrument sometimes but not always?

The twisted logic is hard to follow. But we're used to that from IMU.

I never called a keyboard an instrument. In fact, I said no to MIDI.

When you said "Pianos in", you didn't mean electric pianos? So you didn't also mean electric guitars?

My good friend Anthony told me I can just use two sticks to make music. But only if I'm in Malaysia.

grandpa guitars and church organs ONLY!

An instrumental is a musical composition or recording without lyrics or singing, although it might include some non-articulate vocal input; the music is primarily or exclusively produced by musical instruments.

In a song that is otherwise sung, a section not sung but played with instruments can be called an instrumental interlude. If the instruments are percussion instruments, the interlude can be called a percussion interlude. These interludes are a form of break in the song.

Imu...How do you feel about how I Set My Friends on Fire created and peformed their first album?
B/c they used guitars and such but also a macbook.

If you pluck an electric guitar string without an amp, you have a sound. Not fully dependent...

If you press down a keyboard without it plugged in, what do you hear?

A click?

Furthermore, an electric guitar is pretty useless for recording/performing or otherwise making decent music without being plugged in.

So, IMU, did you say that electric pianos are or are not instruments?

More piano than Keyboard? An electric piano is wholly dependent on electricity. Is it an instrument or isn't it?
