I am well past the 10th tee box of life and one regret I have is that I have never been to a good (or fun) office party.

Yeah, they generally suck. The place I work at supposedly had good ones, held at fancy hotels, but that was before I came and the economy tanked. Now we just have lunch bought for us in the breakroom.

We had ours Thursday. Had annual meeting and a nice dinner and then went out for Whirlyball. That was fun. When you can crash into your boss and its part of the game. (Better yet was paintball when you could shoot him and it was okay!). They mixed up teams and the team I played on was 2 and 1. I was a neutral party in the games.

Party was great until some people had a little bit too much of the bubbly and acted weird on the charter bus on the way home. And it ended really late for a night when we had to be at work the next day.

A few years ago the company I worked at had a party on a Friday where they arranged for heavily discounted hotel rooms (65 for the night at a nice hotel). I decided to take a room and saved the bacon of a few of our young people when they got into trouble for a disturbance. Talked the hotel into accepting payment for damages and not pressing charges. And was smart enough to take pictures of the room so they wouldn't be screwed over for false claims. Not only did I get thank yous from them but got calls from all parents thanking me.

It was also the first time I felt kind of old as I was the first person they came to for help.

They were also pretty generally good kids who had too much to drink who got into a mess.

You never know what might happen. A friend of mine went with a guy as friends to his company's party. She got to talking to his boss and long story short she starts working there on January 3rd and she's been out of work for a year.

I meant you never know what can happen at these things.

I wound up with a lampshade on my head. Was an improvement over my usual look!

Office Christmas party's were great up until about 1990, when everyone would get hammered in the office & drive home.

Office Christmas party's were a lot more fun when drinking, smoking, & having sex with employees was allowed. Damn how I miss those days...
