A place like Katie O's doesn't belong in the candy ass hell hole known as Schaumburg...it would stick out like a sore thumb.

If we're talking Northwest Suburbs...Arlington, Mt Prospect, even Palatine (Rand and Dundee is a hella busy intersection right off the expressway, and there is a giant, vacant building just asking for a new bar right on the Northeast corner of that intersection).

there's a reason for that, you know... who the fuck wants to hang out over there? there's a bunch of soulless commercial/industrial stuff and a trailer park in the immediate viscinity, although there's always the hampton inn to offset that filth that's inherent to those indigenous people who ride the route 223 pacebus to/from the city everyday. that area is social poison, dude, even the majestic famous freddie's closed over time... idk if you lived out there during the famous freddie's epoch, however if you did call it a hunch that you were a BOSS over there on dollar drink nights (what what?!) --- the only people you'd really get are travelers staying @ the hotel, but odds are that they're in town for another reason so they're likely to be doing that. you figure with ~3 hotels right there business would be so good that there wouldn't be a vacant bakers square or whatever there, right?!

the cornerhouse right there @ touhy/elmhurst was always my favorite local dive. i think they were the one place in the area that would sell you beer all the way until 4am... i drank in there once and some old weathered codgers were staring at me like i had pissed on the side of their house or something.

even tho i grew up out there, i only went to heavenly bodies once. that place was just depressing... C/D-grade strippers doin their thing... you're beholden to your waitress who you have to tip the shit out of just to get her to come back ~30min later... and after a couple'a lap dances i'm no closer to my white-picket-fenced dreams and i've just spent the equivalent amount of $$$$ to get a bag of weed. fuck that! i'd rather strike out horribly with some bonafide talent than spend $$$ for some simulation that only serves to remind me that i need to step my game up so i don't ever end up back here.

Went there last night and had a great time. Trivia packed the place last night as they had their own Jonah Hill look-alike hosting it. Too bad the winning team consisted of 9 people that were so clever they named themselves Amish Electricians(oh those funny bastards) and just came up there for the $25 gift card that goes to the winner. Congrats guys you each had your pop paid for.


The wings there are phenomenal BTW.

I guess so. It was different - actual live trivia with a host, you can play in teams of as many as you want. So there is a group of 9 that shows up every week (according to the host of the game) and drinks water/pop and wins 1st place gift certificate while everybody else drinks beer and plays for 2nd and makes fun of the host.
