Who's even saying this? Walkrman, Spada and WWN?

For the record...the next story I break will be the first story I break. I just read the Mike North thread about some BS announcement he hinted at....and I remembered that North was talking to Reinsdorf a few months ago about a "gig"....so my comment was simply that he might have finished sucking off reinsdorf and thus landed some job with the Sox. Certainly not breaking any stories there....or even trying to for that matter. What this all boils down to is...North Sucks !!!!

The idea isn't far-fetched. It's common knowledge that Jerry likes North for whatever crazy reason. And we are talking about the guy who dragged Hawk out of the booth to fire the greatest manager in baseball history and stick a Hall of Fame catcher in left field. I do think it's more likely that North would take over Rongey's role rather than DJ's.

Oh my. Could anyone imagine Rongey AND North on post? I would listen to that every night, and I'm not a Sox fan. I wouldn't wish that on my guy Rongey though.

Caller: Dey aughta aughta.....snooorrrree.

Rongey: Well, I think that dope fell asleep.

North: BUT HE WAS EZAAACTLY RIGHT!!!!!

Rongey: F**k you, F**k you, you're cool, F**k you.....I'm out.

Bringing back North for the 20th Anniversary year isn't that crazy. Ugh.

Sometimes he has more. And he's a house man which makes it worse. Just last week he was running apology for Kenny Williams on the Hudson deal. He said that the Sox were in a pennant drive and Hudson hadn't pitched well in a few starts so Kenny did a smart thing by getting the solid Edwin Jackson for the pennant race. He never once mentioned that it was actually a failed attempt to get Adam Dunn that resulted in giving away a good young pitcher for nothing. In fact, Kenny's obsession with that fucking oaf has set the Sox back at least a full season.

They purposely put dumb callers through, for some reason, and it appears that way.

But his thoughts on the white sox are about 33% dumb 33% towing the team line and 34% actual decent thoughts.

Callers would be a similiar breakdown.

Incorrect.

85% of postgame callers have thoughts comparable to whistler.

I've done studies.

Rongey and THE Company Line v WGN hosts and THE Company Line

I'll take WGN in a seventeen second knockout. Does Rongey pull a ZZ five times a day? Sure. But in comparison, he's not that bad. I refuse to listen to pre or post Cub talk.

Wrong.

Seriously, it's a stupid untrue thing that is perpetuated by all the other hosts.

"Man I feel bad for Rongey"

They put thru some idiot callers. Thats on them. They also put some through that they think are going to be dumb and the caller ends up with better thoughts than Rongey.

I thought we got past this ridiculousness with Rongey's hanging on to Dunn hope for 5 months last year.

How many fans were called dumb to say bench Dunn before Rongey made it ok to say?

Guess what? Callers were right.

I want to address this as I've seen it used WAY too much over the years. Dumb callers call every show with their dumb thoughts. Les, Mully&Hanley, Mac&Meat, B&B, Sox Postgame, etc...

The difference is the way the hosts respond. While M&H embrace the dumb caller and make dumb ass jokes of their own, Rongey will get pissed with the same guy, yell and eventually hang up on him. The same guy gets through on both shows. There is no conspiracy to put dumb callers on the air. Just my opinion based on listening to sports tal radio over the years, but most people who call these shows are morons or weirdos anyway...

i dunno..seem to hear dumb callers at much higher rate on rongey post and boers/berns..i think they encourage it and would have a hard time filling time without them...also dude is 100% correct rongey said for 5 months benching dunn was a dumb idea..it wasn't..batting him in the 3 and 4 hole was the dumb idea..also i heard many callers screaming for deaza the big team and play ...rongey was wrong again on that.

Do they encourage these dumb callers to call Les? How about the Bears Post Game show?

THEY ARE ALL FUCKING CRAZY AND THEY CALL EVERY SHOW.

Les indulges the wack jobs, Doug and O.B. yell right along with them. They don't have to be encouraged to call. Bad sports thoughts pop into their head at various points of the day and they think it it wise to share them with everyone. Hardly anyone is ever turned away from any show...

Im not comparing Cubs Sox. Everything on WGN not named Pat Hughes is terrible.

But the dumb callers thing is a setup. Same as B and B. It fits their narrative.

I agree.

Maybe I didnt say it right.

Of course most people who call the radio are crazy. (Its a radio, not a phone)

But the reaction fosters people's opinions.

B and B look at the line that says

Jim-evergreen park- wants to move Zorich to LB

and they punch it right up to begin making fun of the caller and painting bears fans as stupid.

Another show might just let that guy hold til he falls off. Another show might let him on.

Same with Rongey.

I dont think the conspiracy is purposely having dumb callers call....but they definitely put thru the ones that fit their narrative.

If they wanted to do a show debating intelligent callers, they could do that. But that's not what they consider entertaining.

RPB,

I broke my own rule by making this a Cub v Sox thing. But it's a natural comparison here. People give Rongey shit for being a company man. If he was on WGN, he'd be fired for not supporting the team.

While writing this, I noticed your comment about the narrative of the show. I would tend to agree a bit. I wonder if this is not a conscious decision? Sure it's easy on the surface, but does it just become "the way" after some time?

I apologize for the 16 minute time lapse

And Im shocked to see You, Peeps, and Drop in on the Bernstein side of the argument.

Its just a way of thinking I guess. Some people consider themselves smarter and more informed fans. I dont look at it that way. I live and let live in that way.

Drop in is hilarious and my guy, but his post from january about educating bears packers fans to prevent meatballism pretty much sums up the entire point im making if you care to look it up.

Drop In: Im not one of the guys killing Rongey for being a company man. I just used it as an example of why his thoughts are not Perfect.

Agree with all but the bolded part.

Im thinking lots of people call every show. They dont turn them away, they just leave them on hold.

I think we can agree on this: The hosts choose the callers they want to punch up (as it should be) to affect the direction and narrative of the show.

Jim wants to talk Bears

Tyrone wants to talk NHL

Adolf wants to talk Bulls

That sort of thing? Then sure. The chances are pretty high that they will say something stupid. I hear it on multiple shows all day long. Elmhurst Steve calls Mac with a bad baseball thought and since they are chummy, Mac has no problem with the sheer level of stupidity in the call. Steve in Elmhurst (same guy) calls Bernstein and Berns calls him a retard. The producer doesn't type "this guy is dumb, put him on", he doesn't have to. Chances are if you are calling, it's probably going to be bad anyway. Mac just interacts differently with the caller so people don't tend to notice this sort of thing until Bernstein goes ape shit. Then everyone says "They purposely put idiots on the air". Nope. Not the case. Same idiot, different outcome...

Do I have a few questions about scouting players I would like a definitive answer on, yes. But I am not calling a show to express my opinion (I can do so here...lol) and sit on hold for 20-30 mins.

Can you add something to a topic with fresh info, entertaining brush with fame, etc. but "Let's go to Bill" and Bill who has been holding for 25 minutes wants to tell the host how pissed he is because Angelo hasn't had a good draft. There is your idiot. Essentially, anyone holding for more than 5 minutes, you can pretty much book it, that the moron is on the line. Always exceptions, might be a good guest that others will hold for, etc...but for the most part....moron.

That's the thing, big. They are all bad callers or at least the chance is pretty good. Waiting on hold to yell about something to someone who can't do anything about it is crazy. They aren't weeded out. They aren't given top priority. They are right there for you. Not a gimmick. It's a reality...
