Has a Bears WR or TE ever had 10 or more TD's in a season????????

Curtis Conway had 12 100 yard games placing him 4h on the Bears all time list???? 4th!!!!!!! Behind guys that played int he 50's and 60's, when they didnt throw the ball!

Marcus Robinson had 5 100 yard games in a season, but of course they traded him after that.

Just wondering which team would you say has had a worse history of WR's???? (yeah, I know a second questions)

Maybe Cleveland?

You could probably tie that into which team has had a worse history of quarterbacks.

And then mix that with the awful GM, poor talent evaluation etc and the present ill's make all the more sense.

Caught more balls than Hester this year, not that that's saying much.

Dick Gordon 13 (1970), Ken Kavanaugh 13 (1947), Curtis Conway 12 (1995), Mike Ditka 12 (1961), Harlon Hill 12 (1954), Harlon Hill 11 (1956), Johnny Morris 10 (1964), Jim Keane 10 (1947).

That's the complete list. Kavanaugh only caught 32 balls for 818 yds and 13 TDs that year -- pretty impressive.

That's the name I was searching for!

How about Bobby Engram? Actually no, his Bears career wasn't all that great....but he may be the best Bears WR to have sickle cell anemia.

Maybe Cleveland?

If you base it on catching 10 TDs or more in a season, Cleveland has done that only 7 times -- 4 of those are from Gary Collins, 2 from Paul Warfield, and 1 from Braylon Edwards.

Houston's never had a player finish with 10 or more receiving TDs -- of course there isn't a great amount of history there.

That is an important point.

Jay Cutler continues to have a cult-like following, based on a misguided perception that he is one of the top QBs in the league. (In what is undoubtedly the most QB-friendly era in NFL history, Cutler has never had a QB rating above 90.) Are we to dismiss his numbers as a product of his offensive lines and receiving corps? Is the Bears' ineptitude at receiver over the last 30 years due to bad/mediocre QBs, or is it the other way around?

Interesting point. The general consensus this year was that Cutler had turned the corner. Your QB rating statement didn't mesh with that so I checked out his stats for 2011...not great. He only completed 58% of his passes and had just 13 TD's with 7 ints and 4 fumbles. Surprisingly meh. He was statistically outperformed by Matt Moore, Alex Smith and Philip Rivers (who was universally derided as having an off year).

Im not really a Cutler fan but in his defense, as pedestrian as his numbers may seem you saw first hand what the offense looked like without him. Think Brees, Brady, ARod would have performed much better on this team?

25 yards per catch average are crazy high school numbers!

Agreed the offense was heinous without Cutler. But when injuries are discussed, people rightfully point to the Packers overcoming having 24 guys on injured reserve last year. Bernstein and Zaidmand are the first to dismiss that argument, saying that the person who really mattered (Aaron Rodgers) was still playing. So how would they explain yesterday's performance by Matt Flynn? (6 TDs, 480 yards, and a QB rating of 138.)

By the way, it is really hard to analyze stats in the NFL. Green Bay was 15-1, and actually allowed more yardage than they gained themselves. How can that happen?!? Based on the meaningless nature of the numbers, I'm willing to overlook Cutler's rating and allow that he could be better than middle-of-the-pack. I guess we'll just have to hope his true greatness emerges next year. :?

There's no question that the offense became horrendous without him, but it is interesting that JC's QB rating was essentially the same as his career number, yet the general consensus was that he had moved into the upper echelon.
