Forte was a great draft pick also. I don't think Angelo was a good GM but it's not like he was one of the worst in the NFL.

He's close. Just because he didn't have glaring busts doesn't mean he was good. Lets not forget that the Bears have had several guys that were arrested under Angelo as well.

Sam Hurd is a legitimate complaint in that area because there was plenty of smoke before they signed him but I'm not sure it the others are Angelo's fault really. Character will always be a distant second to talent when evaluating a player.

cutler has to win a superbowl to justify the hefty price tag angelo paid...he over paid because he could not draft/develop one...forte was a good pick..great? no..that draft was loaded with backs and left tackles. angelo had what? 8 drafts? so roughly 56 picks and how many are great players?

Forte is the most complete back in the NFL and was gotten in the second round. That's pretty much the definition of a great draft pick.

i take ray rice over forte and about a dozen other guys..forte does not run great off tackle and does not score many tds..he is a good back not a top 5 back..forte had a career year this season until he got hurt..it happens ..guys get hurt at that position often..demarco murray was on pace to have a monster season also.. if forte puts together 2-3 seasons in a row like this season i will agree with you..i don't see it happening..he was shut down his last 2-3 games this year before knee injurykhalil bell and barber picked up his slack fairly easily

I'm not a believer in Alex Smith, but there is a strong case he was better this year.

Cam Newton also factors in though he made too many rookie mistakes. If you still count Manning that puts Cutler no higher than 14th.

I'll start by saying I am not an Angelo fan. My biggest complaint is that he sounds plain dumb when conversing with the media. His legacy, in my opinion will be this: The Bears were relatively stable under his tenure. Most folks don't place a lot of weight in that, but look at how many coaches get canned each year. It was pretty quiet in Chicago. His teams played great special teams and were always solid on defense. The Bears never sank very far and were usually respectable. For Lions or Browns fans, that might mean something.

What is the case against Matt Ryan?

I don't get the Matt Ryan isn't that good stuff. He didn't develop into Tom Brady like some thought he would but he's still putting up pretty good numbers on a playoff team.

Matt Ryan is good, but he's far from great. He had a very good line, a good running game, and a lot of weapons but doesn't ever seem to beat good teams in big games and I think with a below average offensive line he would have a lot worse numbers because he isn't all that mobile and doesn't seem to do well outside the pocket. I haven't looked at any of his advanced stats so my perception might be wrong but when looking at him and Cutler play Cutler seems like the better player.

Romo, Schaub, Matt Ryan, and Rivers

Rivers had his worst year ever. Romo chokes EVERY chance he gets. Schaub had the benefit of Andre Johnson and Matt Ryan regressed this year.


I used to think it was a joke that you were biased against Cutler but if you think thru week 10 there were 14 QB's better than him you are nuts.

Like Cutler was...except Cutler was better with less talent around him?
