He has some good games every now and then, but it seems like he is inconsistent offensively and Asik just plays better defense most of the time.

He does this year. Had a nice stretch where he played at an all star level last year though. Not sure what happened, but I figure it could be in his head.

Still say you wouldn't trade him for Howard?

Won his last two fights after taking some time off. Has another one coming up in a month or two. Thanks for asking!

He realized he already got his paper, and he doesn't need to play well anymore.

He got the contract before last season, then went on to play his best ball of his career. Granted he didn't start getting paid till this year, but I don't think he's that type of player.

Joakim Noah isn't the smartest guy in the world. It took him a year to figure it out.

Noah begins every season out of shape. He'll bounce back in a couple weeks.

Does Joakim Noah suck? No. Does it suck that #13 constantly finds himself in foul trouble? Yes. It has been a disturbing trend you might want to keep an eye on starting with tonight's game vs. Detroit at the U.C.

It seems like we have this discussion every season. No, Noah does not suck. He's a good starter.

26.2MPG, 7.7PPG, 7.4RPG, 2.0APG, 0.89SPG, 0.89BPG

Those are barely starting stats, let alone 'good' starter stats.

Good starting centers play more than 26 minutes.

If we are only going by this season's stats I guess Wade isn't one of the top players in the league. I'm pretty sure there's a bigger body of work than these past nine games sans training camp.

before i post, i'd like to give thanks to my lord and saviour jesus christ. amen.

---

hell yeah he does. on dec 30, 2007 when i was @ madison square garden watching the immaculate fro of ben wallace stand out beyond the FT line during countless offensive/rebound opportunities, i asked myself "how is it that guy who plays basketball for a living can be a bad basketball player?"

i figured it must have been just because he was kind of big and kind of athletic and when you're like 6'10" black and musclebound you can usually find some sort of niche in professional sports, usually basketball.

in the case of noah, his being ~7ft tall and quick and athletic and, as burnSTINE says "a spaz" enables him to have this career. he sucks at basketball.... as burnSTINE also accurately said, joakim is basically just like tyson handler with slightly better hands.

speaking of tyson chandler, i love giving shit to knicks fans that they're going to fucking LOATHE his contract within a year or two. some claim to already hate it, but like.... 4/58 i think? holy jesus shit fuck Caller Bob cocksucker asshole and tits that's just a horrible horrible horrible deal. it's like people think tyson is the tim tebow of basketball: if you're even in the same room with him just once, being in his presence makes you a better defender.... PFFT!!!!

so joakim is EXTREMELY lucky that he ended up on the bulls, a team that rewards "hard work" and "effort" and coming from a "winning program" in college as opposed to pure basketball skills, so now when they've got THE SUPER TRY-HARD BULLS rest assured, you've got an albatross in the middle with joakim noah. WOO!

seriously? anyone WATCH THE GOD DAMN GAMES or all u just phone stat analyzers?

noah is playing better this year to start then last. he is in great shape (looks like it anyway) and he is constantly defending the best centers in the league. YES, asik is a overall better defender... but noah IS a better scorer- and his scoring this year looks better then he ever has. no longer do i think "oh shit oh shit" when noah gets the ball close to the rim. last year it was a tossup if he could lay it in, but now he usually gets it done.

the reason his stats and perception is that of a weak center is because his is non traditional. even his jumpshot looks ugly as hell but he is making the ones he should now. and his passing is as good as it always has been (WAY ABOVE AVERAGE FOR A CENTER), hell he single handedly WON a game for us just with is excellent decision making and passing skill.

and lets not forget his attitude and mentality. top notch. something tells me he glues that lockeroom together way more then people realize. deng and noah for howard? fuck you all, that would ruin this team. i dont care what anyone says, howard is going to go to a team like the nets and fall off the nba map as fast as ben gordon leaving the bulls. howard is a pussy. at least with lebron we all KNEW he was one of the best in the league... but has howard brought his team to a championship series? no, not even close actually and hes on a better team then any cleaveland scrap heap that lebron was on.

and i honestly think the only reason noah doesnt have a lot of minutes is because thibs is a defensive minded guy... he would rather hold teams down, and so asik gets the minutes because he is just quicker on his d. but thibs definitely does not forget about noah; when we need scoring you will see noah in there. so while it might seem like thibs hates noah or he doesnt feel that noah is very valuable to the team, i think its the complete opposite and also the reason why pax has not and will not trade him.

This is why Thibodeau is playing Omer Asik at the end of tight games?

the bulls have a lot more offensive options right now then they do defensive ones... and asik is a complete defender whereas noah is more of a serviceable body on that side. however, once noah grabs a steal or does block a shot you can count on the ball getting to the other side of the court with a quickness AND with all 5 guys.

so i really think it has a lot more to do with the situations that have been presented to thibs rather then noahs play. its too bad noah isnt a better defender, because if he was he would be a perennial allstar.

but boozer and deng have like twice the minutes that noah has... i dont even know the stats but i bet im right

edit i looked at the stats and deng does have roughly double the min that noah does... and even if you compare noah to boozer youll see they are VERY close, with boozer having the points but what noah doesnt score he does have more assists. really looking at the stats i see two similar players, with one having a real jumpshot and the other knowing how to assist better (or looking to assist rather then score, but you have to watch games to know that stuff). which all makes a lot of sense so i still fail to see what the big problem with noah is.

Luol Deng has many more minutes per game, but Boozer isn't that far ahead. But the reason they are playing more minutes is because they are contributing more. When you play well, you play more.

The difference between what Joakim Noah and Omer Asik give you at the center position seems to be growing smaller and smaller.

ok, you are right. boozer and deng are playing great. especially offensively. we dont need the points, so why have noah out there when we can put in asik to get better defense? even if asik scores nothing all game he can be accountable for stopping a huge chunk of the opponents would be buckets. would it make more sense to let noah give up a few more buckets but also drain a few more on the offensive end? well that just depends on what coach you ask, and what situation they think their team is in. and we all know thibs is a LOT more passionate about defense so that is how he will run this team.

and to state that asik's and noah's seperation of talent is growing smaller and smaller is to state that they are both great players. so again, at what point would noah be considered bad?

The fallacy in your argument is very obviously sample size imu. If those are his numbers after 60 games then you'll have a legitimate argument. His numbers are much better the past two seasons. This is a weird season. 9 games into it without much of a training camp and a very compressed schedule it's way, way too early to be making final judgements. If you thought Noah was good last year and already flipped your opinion on him it's because you were most likely looking for a reason to.

The last two seasons were career years? Even though they were years 3 and 4 of a player who had only played four seasons?

The only knock on Noah should be his inability to stay healthy which, along with the compressed schedule and Asik's competence, could be a reason for decreased minutes so far.

I always cringe at the use of the phrase "career year" or "career season" for any active player.

in have been saying to trade noah when he is healthy and teams see a higher ceiling on him for over a year...the knicks could have a guy like him and let him run the floor and pass to the scorers...the bulls do not have that luxury..this team is better when he is on the pine..whether it is asik or taj most times.

This makes me feel better about thinking Noah is pretty good. And the Knicks do have a guy like him he is Tyson Chandler....

yes i know..noah/chandler are the same guy.... don't be surprised if noah misses games this year with foot problems. 7 footers with feet problem seem to be chronic injuries that keep coming back.

not that long. Joakim is what he is. He should be starting over Asik unless Asik suddenly develops better conditioning and stops fouling as much. I'm glad to see people coming around to my point of view.
