RT @WGNRadio: Daniel Carcillo out for the season for ACL surgery. #Blackhawks

I would be fine with this ending his time with the Hawks.

Obviously there are more important players on the team, but this is still a blow. Say what you want about the suspensions, but the fact is he played well overall and was one of the few capable guys who could fill in on the top 6. And in the playoffs he would've supplied some much needed sandpaper.

The Carcillo experiment failed, to me. He got too many reputation penalties and committed a lot of cut-and-dried infractions on top of that. I had hoped that playing on a finesse team would bring out his skill level, but then again, even the Philadelphia Flyers aren't the Charlestown Chiefs. He could fill in on the top six acceptably at times, but I feel like his attempts to curb his recklessness were so extreme that he played weakly and tentatively. Life without him shouldn't be hard to imagine; he had already missed so many games as it was. I had high hopes for him here, but it just didn't work out, and if this marks the end of his time in the league, I won't be surprised. He was here, remember, on a one-year, sub-million contract after being non-tendered. Add to that more suspensions and reconstructive knee surgery, and I don't see how he gets a one-way contract for next season.

Andrew Shaw could be the evolved form of Carcillo we thought we were getting. Could also be more of a very poor man's Pat Verbeek, a "little ball of hate."

Man, I really liked Carcillo after like the first 7 games of the season but it's been badly downhill from there. He was just gravy though. Not that I cannot appreciate a little goonery but the Hawks didn't need it.

I kind of side with shakes on this one, where it might have been nice to have him in an ugly playoff series, if the situation warranted it. I guess Mayers and Scott will have to suffice.

Pat Verbeek...
That tickled my fancy...

Always thought Carcillo could've been Mike Ricci's little brother

Why, so he can run over his own teammate?

Pat Verbeek was part of one of the greatest Stanley Cup teams of all time!

Im somewhere in between Darkside and Troll, which is a scary place if you think about it really hard. A bunch of people reference a few amazing plays he had with the Flyers, but I just cant get out of my head the fact that the guy got benched during the cup finals. That tells you a lot about a player, like that he has a few screws loose and you dont want him on your team. It was a stupid gamble by the Hawks and they ended up losing a game and roster because of him. In retrospect, I am leaning more towards Troll.

That might look like a warning sign, but look at the opponent. A player like Carcillo isn't really needed against a team like the Blackhawks. If the Flyers were playing the Canucks, I'm sure he would have been active for all of those games.

I don't need him to set up the powerplay, I need him to drive Aaron Rome's head through the fucking glass...

Jamal Mayers will do it. He doesn't take crap.

Carcillo finally off the 23-man roster; we can carry a 13th forward again! It's Ben Smith, incidentally! Should've thought of this at 8 a.m. the morning after the hit, guys.

Did they think that maybe Carcillo would be able to return this year so they wanted him to serve his suspension immediately? Was there an issue diagnosing his knee? Does the organization think they pulled a fast one on the league?

Just a strange ass series of events

"Carbomb" is a fucking idiot... I for one am not shocked that he injured himself delivering a dirty hit.
