It's too bad they suck!

Then why did your boy Lupe sample them?

To make it better, obviously.

I'm sure...

You realized that Lupe had to pay Modest Mouse for that beat and chorus, yes? A handsome sum, at that.

Lupe a bitch.

And he probably made more $ than MM did.

Hmm, also, at least three (3) different Modest Mouse songs have been licensed for usage on commercials. Also good money in that. How many commercials does Lupe have??!?!

Lupe a bitch.

It doesn't change the fact the MM sucks.

I could name plenty of songs that were licensed for commercials that suck......

You hear the opening to Gravity Rides Everything, and you know it. It is a great song, with a unique sound.

You hear some Lupe, and it sounds like every other shitty Top 40 rapper in the last 5-6 years.

Lupe a bitch.

It's pretty funny hearing you call someone a bitch

I am a sucker for songs that sound like the spirit of Gram Parsons is being channeled through Ryan Adams. It is ineffably beautiful.

I don't know...Modest Mouse has 2x the total album sales...they both headline tours but Modest Mouse does it worldwide...Lupe (most rap in general) is way more popular in U.S. than he would be worldwide.

And again...Modest Mouse gets all sorts of licensing money for their songs being used in corporate endeavors..and for saps like Lupe paying Modest Mouse for beats because they can't even come up with some on their own.

I think Lupe's music has been used in ads well, but not certain.

Also he apparently HATED doing the Modest Mouse song and most of what happened leading up to Lasers

TM, these guys are very good. My brother used to live in Greenville, NC and these guys would play at
local bars around there about 10 yrs ago maybe. They would listen to them with less than 100 people
in the place. I haven't picked up any discs but have listened to them on Pandora a bit.

Great version of this song. Better than what is on the cd I just bought. Mills does a nice job with guitar solos.

XRT isn't terrible most of the time.

Ehh, XRT isn't bad...and they do have some decent older songs...but they also play a lot of overdone stuff.

You have to catch it at the right times...the morning show is pretty good...the hour of commercial free music around 5 is good. The midday show is terrible...the afternoon guy is ok.

Good features, though...Blues Breakers, Saturday Morning Flashback, Sunday Night Concert...good stuff.

I heard a clip of that on "Sound Opinions." It sounds like somebody made a concept album out of an Onion headline.

Edit: to Phil's post above.

I like Little Steven's underground garage on XRT even though its syndicated and they kinda play the same crap alot. But I actually agree with IMU rock radio in Chicago blows.

Yeah I loved Metallica growing up and even liked alot of Death Magnetic.....and I definately like alot of the stuff Lou Reed has done I mean Sweet Jane on Rock and Roll Animal alone is enough to make me respect the guy. But I only caught a few clips of 'LuLu' and it sounds like someone getting stuck in a grain harvester. Bad.
