Not to rain all over mini Ditka here, but haven't been to a Warren Buffet in a long time. With the exception of the past Cubby Bear Breakfast lines, are Buffets really the way to eat??

If you really need to pig out, order 2 entrees you know will be good. Instead of 2 serving trays that have sat under the heat lamp for the past 3 hours, have been picked over by your grandma and her friends just 'tasting it' and a sneeze or two by the guy bringing it out.

Buffet #1 in Vegas, Barbary Coast. Made my way to Vegas on the low end budget, got the $3.95 coupon and figured there will be one thing I liked. wow was I wrong. WORST ever. Every item was terrible, and this was when I was 18 and would anything, even the sheet cake was like a week old and almost hard like a rock.

Splurged on the 10 cent wings

I went to a HyVee buffet out in DeKalb and that is really over the top. You could easily gain 5 lbs. there. The selection of food was pretty solid and the food tasted great.

Yeah, it's hit or miss depending on which one you go to...the one at college was amazing...the one where I grew up, meh...what's really bad is when you get the "Grand Buffet"...Chinese, Italian and Kitchen all for the same price...nothing like plate after plate of General Chicken, Pizza and Meatloaf to make you gain pounds.

The one in DeKalb has a custom sandwich bar and they give you a piece of expensive cake that they would normally charge $3 to $5 for.

Sounds like a need to make a trip to DeKalb.

If you ever end up in the Wisconsin Dells there is a cool place called Paul Bunyan's and they have a breakfast buffet too.

The Culvers in Sycamore has all you can eat fried chicken on Mondays for like $7 or $8.

Casinos are typically known for their buffets because they want to suck people in any way they can. I think the quality of the buffet varies depending on where and when you go. A buffet isn't really that different from eating in a college cafeteria.

Nagoya on RT59 in Naperville. Japanese, Hibachi, & high quality Sushi. The food here is great & the place is always packed with Asians, so if they like it...
I'll be there tomorrow...again.

I was always a Bellagio buffet fan. But I have to say, Planet Hollywood's is excellent. They set the food up by nationality, so there is a Chinese, Italian, Mexican etc station for each type of food. The Vegas buffets are expensive, but well worth it.

There's a lunchtime buffet at a chinese restaurant in Northbrook in the same strip mall as Max & Benny's that's actually pretty good. Not a large selection and they don't keep a lot of food in there at any one time which might be why its decent since the food has never been sitting out there for more than a few minutes before its refilled.

Are you still in the QC chas? If so, I just went to this place about a month ago...I didn't do any of the Sushi or Hibachi, but everything else was solid...excellent fried rice, good seasame chicken, and they even had the deep fried zuchini slices that I used to be able to get at Golden Corral...worth a visit.

We went for dinner...can't remember what it cost, but it wasn't unreasonable...however, what my gf's coworker told her was the best bet is to go towards the end of lunch and then you get the dinner stuff for the lunch price...of course, he also said the only difference was crab legs and I don't do crab legs at a buffet so it really wouldn't matter to me.
